Mom is 82yo with dementia and hasn't been able to have her hair cut in 7 years, until today. I was able to turn the pony tails into a game that allowed me to cut 4 times; her wild animal hair is tame and fabulous! Thank you for this. You helped a human.

UMMMM? i literally am standing in the bathroom over all my freshly chopped off hair and i have genuinely never felt like such hot shit ??!!!! it feels SOO much better and lighter and yet a lot of the length is still there which is what i was concerned about. AND my hair is straightened so there’s more room for error but with spending a little extra time sectioning it all, it doesn’t look choppy whatsoever. i’m like blown away that this worked so well and was so simple, like it feels like my versions of things are usually the walmart kind or like “nailed it!” cakes but this shit WORKED!!!!

I'm trying to get brave enough to try this on myself. Paid lots at a salon when I asked for a wolf cut, and she said she would do it (I even showed her a photo and she said it would look great on me), but after she sliced 12 inches off my hair I walked out with a shoulder length Bob.😢 No wonder I hate going to hairdressers!

Last time I went to and hair dresser was 5 years ago. I asked for a wolf cut and she cut all the lenght. She wasn't able to cut the fringe. She cut it too short (at the half of my forehead. I cried for a week every time I looked myself in a mirror. Now I'm happy cutting my hair by myself and even if something goes wrong sometimes at least I didn't paid for it. 😂

Just did this cut on my own hair, must say it turned out great considering I'm not a hairdresser. It took me a while to section off the hair correctly as I didn't want to balls this up, I did end up cutting another two inches off the back bottom pony tail after as I wish I'd been a bit braver on the initial cut, but overall I'm chuffed to bits with all the layers.

I didn’t make it too drastic since it’s always possible to cut off more when you don’t like it and I might trim a little more after I see how my curls deal with the cut after the next washday (iykyk). But so far: I am obsessed!! Did go for a longer curtain bang since curly bangs are a pain in the a*s and it looks so nice and natural

This is the absolute PERFECT CUT for me!! Just did this on what my fave hair stylist and friend- may she RIP- referred to as my 'crazy a** head of hair' lol. Pretty sure she was already doing this cut on me without the ponytails for years. I could never get ANYONE to do my hair like she did. She just knew how to cut my hair. She could just feel it. I have been cutting my own hair now for years (off and on since she died), since I got tired of paying people butt loads of money to eff it up. I figured I couldn't do worse, and I was right. I finally got to something I could live with using 4 ponytails, but this! This is even better! I absolutely adore this! I have never gone to school for this, so I don't know any tricks, just basics. But that 'point cut' trick was a giant OMG for me!! It really brings out my waves. Thank you thank you!! I wish I could add pictures it looks so good! 😘

I did this and it worked out perfectly! finally got my hair like ive wanted to for the past 2 years! the only hard part was sectioning by myself on top of my head trying to get it straight xd but worked out in the end. highly recommend people to just do it if they want to! I didnt cut as much as in the video as my hair was longer and i wanted to keep a lot of my lenght. this ponytail way is very good and safe as you have a lot of control on how you want it and customize! I did curtain bangs from brad mondos video for the bangs. :)

What about fine and thinner hair? This is the exact cut I've been pining for, ever since I saw this one pic of Patti Smith from the 70s. I've been too scared to try it with my fine, thin, virgin hair though!

My favoritest cut ever. I especially love how Paul explains how to customize it to longer hair. This works so well for my long and very curly hair that needs shorter layers while maintaining some length. Very innovative and you nailed it again Paul! Many thanks!!

Thank you for this! It took me much longer than you to get the sections right 😂 but the finished look is amazing. I'm currently trying to sort the fringe bit out. I ended up cutting it shorter than yours as it was in my eyes too much but the sides of my fringe look a bit weird, trying to do a parted sweeping fringe now 😂

Smashed and subbed 👌 I so want to do it... my hair is down to my waist and limp... think this might be the do to do. I will probably watch this over and over till I get my confidence up. You have made it look fool proof... fingers crossed. Having my hair cut has always been traumatic, I'm just apprehensive about cutting so much hair.

Let me know if you do cut your hair, cause mines down nearly to my waist, and I'm so scared to cut mine. But I have thought of using this method but leaving the layer's obviously a lot longer, so it's not as much of a shock. 😱. 🥰🇬🇧😮

I DID IT!! After a large cup of coffee and a whole lot of contemplating!! I DID IT!! I followed Pauls instruction and focused on every detail and I was able to achieve a good result!! without redoing it!! it took me an hour to finish cutting my own hair. it was hard cause my hair is below shoulder length and I was having a hard time cutting the back pony cause I have to point it at the ceiling while cutting it. I'm a short girl with a long hair. imagine the how tiring it was to keep my hands up and making sure I was holding my hair as steadily as i could for a long time. but wolf hair cut was a success!!! I'm dyeing my hair now 😊🥰 I'm so happy 🥰🥰

Advice from a fellow pro stylist: If you’re considering a cut like this for poker straight hair, try the butterfly cut first. This cut done by amateurs will probably turn out too choppy and not look right. It’s difficult to blend your own long hair. Poker straight hair will need lots of blending. Better to try the butterfly first or go to a pro. 😊

Thanks for your advice, I think I won't do it, my hair style is like jennifer aniston hair as it is now, I just want a few more front layers in, the ponytail hair cut I did once, only taking a inch off, thank god I did as the layers with that cut started to short in the very front, instead of starting under the chin they were around the nose / mouth. I've grown them down to under the chin, so maybe I should leave it be.
