You Asked: Advancement Exams

ICYMI, from our MyNavy HR Town Hall last month, Fleet K answered a question from IT1 Alemanreal of USS Jackson LCS 6. He asked, "Is the Navy planning to create a tool to help Sailors prepare for the advancement exam in conjunction with the Bibs?"

Thank you Master Chief. I'd say the eval/fitrep system is archaic and needs to be changed to a modern performance evaluation system. Also, we seriously need to upgrade computer labs and wifi bandwidth/speed at NRC's. We should be hiring real tech companies instead of low cost bidder software" companies. SO many times our Sailors have to battle the archaic DTS, NSIPS, NROWS, and all those 1980's (or at least is sure functions like that) systems. We waste billions of dollars on ship platforms only to decommission them. We waste millions on uniforms changes, only to abandon them. Let's stop wasting money on ridiculous programs and focus on our Sailors, if we truly value our Sailors as we claim. Not intending this to be a "hit and run". Feel free to contact me. I want to help!

This won’t affect advancement for 90% of contested rates. This just gives a tool for the people already studying. A bell curve test won’t show much score improvement from this, just possibly improve the number of answers; tightening the curve and lowering the value of the exam if anything. This is only helps the last EP edge out the #1 MP; the one that’s basically subjective force distribution become harder for the coin flip MP to advance.
