Yo-Yo Ma: The Magic of Music, Nature, & the Future | Apple Music

Музыка

Yo-Yo Ma, cellist and world-renowned musician, joins Zane Lowe in New York for a cup of coffee and a meaningful conversation.
The two discuss Yo-Yo Ma's upbringing in Paris and his transition to moving to America as a child. He emphasizes the importance of spaces like Apple Music Classical to continue passing down the gift of music from generation to generation. The conversation concludes by touching on his thoughts about the magic of music, his relationship with nature, and the dynamic he hopes to cultivate with younger generations through sharing knowledge.

This is the kind of stuff I want to see Zane talking about. With great artists who aren’t just dropping hip hop stuff right NOW. Let’s hear what the legends of different genres have to say

Yo-Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin at Carnegie Hall in NYC was my first concert of my life. I remember getting tickets under the XMas tree and I sobbed as a 10-year old. At 26, I still feel the same way. He has truly inspired and shaped the backbone of music, joining the greats like Miles Davis, Theonius Monk and so many more.

I love this man not just for his talent but mostly because he is quite simply a genuine, humble and loving human being. I imagine he does have a beautiful singing voice because his speaking voice is like a soothing balm to the soul. His intellect and inquiring mind are breathtaking. ❤❤❤

Hello Yo! I just saw the PBS program about you and your trio pals. You and I played together. OK big joke, but I was a violinist in the first Spoleto Festival in SC and Italy and your trio (I assume it was the same 3) were the trio in residence there. I was in such awe of you, especially when you threw your head back and were totally absorbed in the music, that I could hardly concentrate on the Operetta music in front of me. Also fascinating was your talk of the interest many classical musicians have in both medicine/science and music. My teacher in music school, Yashua Brodsky used to tell us students about a student that had a dilemma. She loved medicine and wanted to be a doctor, but she also loved the violin. What should she do? Brodsky said, and I quote "Go into medicine, because music is for us poor fools who can't live without it." Haha, he did have some point there I'm sure. Thank you for just existing and adding so much to our culture and lives.

A woman went to her doctor and said "Doctor please help me. Every time I move my arm like this it hurts!" The doctor said "So don't move your arm like that". I hate the expression "duh" but it's all I can think of here. Just don't listen to him play. (duh)
