I’ve been hooked on this one for a while. Love the flavor. I’ve been a canarias traditional drinker for many years. This I’m not sure why I like it so much but it makes me feel calmer for sure. For people with stressful jobs etc. I highly recommend!

@dominichardin1440 two wonderful choices. I like the CBSé line. They have great flavors like the Energia and Orange.

Personally, I gave it a 10 out of 10 that was some of the best stuff I ever drank and had a hint of chocolate to it to me

A hint of chocolate? I'll have to look for that next time I drink this. Yes, this is a great yerba for select purposes like a calming effect and relaxation.

I just started drinking Yerba, and for better or worse, not sure which one yet, I chose Canaria’s Serena. Being a 5-6 cups of coffee a day drinking to this has been drastic! I LOVE the flavor, but it’s TOO relaxing to me. I was wanting something that hits hard caffeine wise, and this one isn’t it. Like you said, this one would be great in the late afternoon to relax ya and such, but not for the top of the morning.lol I’m gonna try the original Canaria’s in the yellow bag, and hope that’s better.

This one definitely hits different than coffee lol. Canarias (yellow bag) is a bit stronger. I also like to recommend either Mate Factor (fresh) or a La Merced to those switching from coffee. You can also find dark roasted Yerbas that hit like coffee, too. Hope you find what you’re looking for 🧉

Nice vid

The yerba mate brand named Sara has a good variety of flavor as well Canaria. I recommend Sara Extra Suave for beginners, still with a bitter flavor but during the pouring (sebada) will get a smooth texture flavor 😂

Very nice review & video. I agree with you that the Canarias Traditional is not for begginers. Im from Argentina, and personally I prefer argentinian kinds of yerba (a bit thicker, and with palo -sticks- in particular Piporé brand, and La Merced too). I have a question for you: do you know how many grams of yerba does your mate hold? I love those kinds of imperial mates (very typical in Uruguay, and only more recently in Argentina) but I'm afraid they might require a lot of yerba (more than 50 grams)

I too love Argentinian yerba! But I love trying new yerbas as well. As for your question, I do not know how many grams I use. I typicall fill an imperial gourd up about half way. That seems to be the equivalant of a 3/4 full argentine gourd. Maybe I should do a review on how many grams I use. Would be good content for other. Thanks for the idea!

I do remember it's got mint in it :)

Great question! I believe this packs about the same punch as Playadito. Both are fairly softer/smoother than some other yerbas on the market. The tastes are obviously very different between Canarias Serena and Playadito.

Hey there,does the mate lose all of its flavour when you transport it to a box? Cuz i made tbe first serena mate and it tasted amazing but once I transported it to a box and made my second one, I could not taste the herbs and the mint amymore. What do you think?

I have put other yerbas in tin cans and have never lost flavor. Be sure that whatever box/tin/other container your use is air tight. Yerba will slowly lose flavor if not sealed properly.

My go-to yerba is Rosamonte Especial. I really enjoy different yerbas depending on my purpose for drinking. I will upload a video soon about that 😊🧉 What yerba do you love to drink?

What bombilla are you using? I’ve just got some regular canarias and I’ve followed every prep video and my bombilla is blocked, can’t even drink it.

I use a typicall stainless steel spoon bombilla. I have found that the large circle bombillas are difficult to use. These spoon bombillas have worked well for me without clogging. I have found that sometimes I can instert the bombilla like I would with an Argetine yerba, but sometimes I rotate the bombilla 90 degrees so that it is sitting next to the mound rather than infront of it.

I use this type to dry my mouth, I find the yellow color tastes better

This gourd was a gift from a friend. I believe he ordered it from a shop on Instagram. IG is a good place to look or you can find other amazing gourds from www.argenthings.com, www.yerbamatelab.com, or anam-mate.square.site/. Hope this helps :)

How hot do you like your water?

I personally like my water around 70°C which is ~158°F. I like the warmth and the bitterness that can pop at warmer temperatures. Some yerbas like Playadito recommend 70°C. However, I have noticed that different flavors can arise when using lower temperatures (around 60°C or 140°F). These temperatures allow more subtle flavor notes to come out. Do you have a preference?

i dont know why but the taste of this yerba reminds me something salty on the first sips. After a time, the taste becomes softer but still bitter and strong on caffeine. A totally different flavor from the Brazilian chimarrão yerba style. Trying to get used to the taste!!!!!!!!!!

Salty??? I think that is the first time I have every heard anyone say a yerba was salty. I like the Serena because it is a bit mellow for me. I have hax Ximango chimmarrao and I really like that too.

@@yerbatravels I drinked it in a chimarrao gourd, so probably added more yerba and consequently making it taste stronger. After that I tried in a smaller one, and that salty taste went away, now it's floral and bitter !!. And the smell reminds me tobacco aswell, strong tobacco smell

@@spanishead2426 I use my chimarrao gourd for all types of yerba, too! I'll have to pay more attention when I drink Serena to see if I can get those tobacco notes.

I highly recommend you a brand with urugayan cut which in my opinion is much better than Canarias: Sara. The "Tradicional" one is not so bitter as for the yellow Canarias, but gives the same energy buzz. The "Compuesta" version (which contains ginger, melissa e chamomile) tastes amazing and has a delicious aftertaste which reminds me of gingerbread 👍🏻🌿🧉🇺🇾
