Brewing Yerba Mate In A French Press

!!Yerba Mate is often referred to as the Drink of the Gods!!
It's known for its incredible strength and is very popular in South America!
When I first tried Yerba Mate, I thought it would be just like coffee but I was pleasantly surprised. Rather than a quick burst in energy, I felt a gradual increase that lasted for a few hours. Also, there was no crash with the energy, it came and left peacefully.
Whenever I need a bit of a wake-up, Yerba Mate is my choice. If you're interested in purchasing some Yerba Mate, here are my amazon associate links for the ones I purchased:

“Mate Cocido” (“Cooked Mate”); Yerba Mate brewed and served just like tea. Very popular and commonly consumed daily with breakfast, instead of the more flavor potent, socially ritualized and time consuming traditional way. I’ve been doing it with a French Press for decades.

I first started drinking Yerba mate to help with asthma, with a nod to Che Guevara. I'd also already had a holly tattoo for ages and was curious to try it. That was decades ago and I fell in love with mate. The incredible flavor, the goosebumps I get sipping it, the intoxicating scent of the brewed tea, and way it never leaves me feeling acidic, aggressive, jittery. I can even drink it before bed and sleep like an angel, but it can also give meental clarity and a grounded, calm energy all day long. It's just a magic elixir of the gods. ❤

Thanks, I'm going to switch from coffee to yerba mate, it all started when I bought different types of cans of yerba mate from whole foods, like Guayaki, and Steaz. Can't wait to make the change.

I use a gourd but I might switch to french press because it's easier to share with others post covid when nobody wants to share a bombilla anymore, and also to make smaller amounts.

@Garden Dove. in Brazil, there are four kinds of erva mate. The toasted, to make as tea, the tereré, to drink cold (thicker, like de paragayan yerba), the nativa, cultivated inside forests (this make it be really fresher and herbal flavor, with green color) and the tradicional, cultuvated on mate plantations (its flavor is similar to the nativa flavor, except for less fresh and more malted).

With all due respect to you. Why do you distort the name of mate with your inventions, because the origins of the mate drink are in the designated cup and its straw so that you can enjoy drinking it and not as you do in the video, so please respect this drink and thank you.

As humanity evolves, we continually forget and relearn our traditional roots. But I wouldn’t call it disrespectful for those who are learning or naïve to pick up on old methods and the benefits of those old ways, without fully understanding the history behind it. It’s a bit like the same argument people say about cultural appropriation. The reason why cultures take things from others is because they’re good ideas. You should see it as a positive not as a negative. But also, we often misunderstand the origins of our traditions anyways, and we’re just continually Unveiling the reality of the deeper and deeper origins than we originally had thought. This tends to be the trend. We realize that we think we were the original owners or discovers of something, only to find out that they’ve been around much longer than we realized. There’s no need to hold a sense of status in not having knowledge over one topic over another. It doesn’t help your neighbour to, tell them that they know less about some thing therefore they should feel obligated to learn as much as you.

I think I get your point though. To trivialize the hard work of those who share ideas stories, and create societies and cultures, is to undermine the value of the humanity behind it. It annoys me when people are looking for a quick fix and use important tools in an inappropriate way. However, when there’s an opportunity to explain, or teach to someone what it is that they are missing in the greater context that you perceive, just say what it is that you see that they are missing. Don’t make it about the level of respect or status you’re giving to someone or something. Make it about helping as many people learn as possible.
