    I just ordered my first Yerba Mate "starter kit" which is the Playadito... seemed like the best option for newbies. Assuming I like it and want to try something a little stronger what would you recommend be my next step?

  • @yerbatravels

    Playadito is a great choice! With such a wide variet of flavors and flavor profiles, you can't really go wrong. Depending on your taste preferences, I would recommend a Barbacua like Isondu. For something will a less smokey flavor I would recoment Porongo or Anna Park. You could also try out the different flavored yerba. If you are looking for a stronger punch then I would recommend Rosamonte Especial or Canarias.

    Honestly fuck the traditional way. I just put around 50 grams all in one 1.5-2 liter thermo. Don't got time to refill every 2-5 minutes. Just use a longer bombilla, 25 grams of Canarias and 25 grams is Rosamonte. That would get me through the day. I know Argentinans would hate me for this. But honestly that's the smartest and easier way 🤷🏻‍♂️.

  • @obiwan7840
    @obiwan78402 ай бұрын

    That is called "Mate cocido" and it's a real drink, very common back in the day. The only difference is that you're not boiling the water with the yerba on it and/or straining the yerba, but other than that, you're good to go.

  • @obiwan7840
    @obiwan78402 ай бұрын

    Also, mate is not about efficiency, mate is about taking a moment, relax, and think back about things (if you're alone), for some people it's like a companion throughout the day. Making mate is a process and you should enjoy every moment of it, from pouring the yerba on the gourd, to heating the water to just the right temperature, slowly filling the gourd with water on that first sip, then you take a sip and "ahhh life's good". It's also about sharing: A friend of you comes to visit you and you share a mate, like a way to making him feel welcome, and also for the sole purpose of sharing anything with a friend. You talk about things or don't, just enjoy each other company in silence. But it's something that runs in the culture for us, it's totally fine not liking it. Cheers!.
