YEAR IN REVIEW | The WWF in 2003 (Full Year Documentary)
2003 was a huge year in pop culture. In the world of film, we would see Peter Jackson close out the Lord of the Rings trilogy, in music; 50 Cent became superstar with his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin, and meanwhile in the WWE, the growing war between Raw and SmackDown was keeping fans invested as, with the Attitude Era now a thing of the past, the Ruthless Aggression Era fully began to take shape, with a whole new crop of talent rising to the forefront. But how did it all happen? Well, join us today as we take a deep dive into the entire story from start to finish in The WWE in 2003: A Year in Review.

Once you catch up to 2022 on this series, I’d love to see you go backwards. I know it gets harder the farther back you go due to limited TV time. But you could go back to at least the mid 70s.

2003 was my favorite year to watch WWE. Yeah it was Triple H year of terror but it was still a great year with all the talent Roster they had then. Raw: Triple H, Goldberg, Flair, Orton, Batista, Michaels, Nash, Booker T, Christian, Jericho, Kane, Rob Van Dam, The Dudleys, Henry and others etc. Smackdown: Lesnar, Angle, Undertaker, Cena, Edge, Benoit, Guerrero, Show, Mysterio, Matt hardy, Benjamin, Haas and others etc Special attractions like, Stone Cold, The Rock and Hulk Hogan They had hottest Divas, Stratus, Lita, Wilson and Keibler Sadly, it was the end of Stone Cold Steve Austin in ring career until 19 years later when he returned one last Match at WrestleMania 38 against Kevin Owens. Goldberg finally comes to WWE, Brock Lesnar year of dominance on Smackdown. The Hogan vs McMahon rivalry, The Rock run as Hollywood Heel, and Shawn Michaels vs Chris Jericho feud. These were my favorite moments of that year. WrestleMania 19 was my favorite pay per view of that year.
- Booker T should have won at WM - Vengeance is the best "Brand Exclusive" PPV - Goldberg should have won at SummerSlam - Kane should have taken on Shane at SummerSlam - Team Austin should have won at Survivor Series

In my opinion 2002 was the last great year for WWE, but 2003 was overall pretty good despite Austin retiring, Rock going to Hollywood, and HHH's "Reign of Terror."

2002 was more of a mixed year rather than a great one. With good wrestling constantly failed by bad writing.
Damn ain't nun on Mr Perfect passing in '03
Im so happy you're covering the wwe by the years. Please keep doing more of this.
Tripple H ruled Raw and Brock Lesnar ruled smackdown. This was the year smackdown was far better than raw due to better storylines and wrestling matches (the wrestling 6)
Once again, revisionist history. Steve Austin was the Raw GM starting off, before being fired at Survivor Series and then brought back as the Sheriff of Raw. Yes, there is a difference.
The first full year of Ruthless Aggression era (Started by mid 2002) and the best year.. I always say 2003 was the last great solid year in wrestling from beginning to end... Stone Cold and Eric Bischoff kept Raw entertaining as f*ck as general manager's. Kane taking his mask off, The Rock as a heel with his last feud against Austin, Goldberg's last good year as a wrestler I actually liked that year he was there. My favorite version of John Cena over on Smackdown. I was playing Smackdown Shut Your Mouth on PS2 all of 2003 and ended the year that Christmas getting Here Comes the Pain.

As much as I wish I was born in 2002 but I am proud and lucky and happy to be born in 2003 cause that was the last time stone cold steve austin wrestled
I watched the WWF more or less religiously from 1991 until 2003. 2003 was the year my patience ran out. I stopped watching WWE and never returned. The brand split making Raw and Smackdown 2 different things instead of a continuous storyline, the 2 World Championship belts, Steve Austin and Rock being gone, Triple H being booked stronger than those 2 guys combined ever were, the lack of Attitude, the general feeling that best times were already behind us. During 2002 I kept hoping things would get better and we’d be going back to the Attitude Era but I was in denial. By 2003 it was obvious that was never going to happen. I organically stopped watching. It wasn’t even conscious. One day I realized I hadn’t watched Raw in 3-4 weeks and I didn’t care. From 1997 to 2001 I would freak out if I missed even a segment on Raw or Smackdown.

Such a fun year of wrestling! Can't wait till you do 2008, I went to the HOF that year, Wrestlemania 24, and the Raw afterwards. Plus numerous raw and smackdowns.
2003 is one of the worst years for Monday Night RAW because of Triple H meanwhile it was one of the best years for SmackDown.
I used to have the DVDs of all the PPVs for 2003 that was a fun watch
Greatest Wrestlemania of all time, every match was a banger, so much build up for the main events, HBK back stealing the show, Rock/Austin one last time, it had everything.

For me, 2003 was a tremendous year for the ruthless aggression era especially on Smackdown which was a fantastic show from start to finish with a stacked roster that produced bucket loads of classic matches every week and on ppv, Raw while it had a lot of star power and delivered it's share of great matches, i wasn't a fan of the brand that much mainly because of Triple H's reign of terror which just completely hogged everything even though i loved Evolution. Aside from that, there was no doubt 2003 was really good and in my opinion, it delivered the best Wrestlemania of the entire ruthless aggression era.

@@TheMelody15 I totally feel the same way too, Raw for me wasn't that great mainly because Triple H hogged it all. @@WarhawkBeyond2040 Triple H was definitely hogging it all, on Smackdown everyone was getting opportunities and shine. I always think this 🤔 Triple H used his McMahon access to his full advantage to get over on people. Maybe to build a legacy during those years? I don't know, just a assumption. But I feel that Triple H used his McMahon connection to control everything in his favor just because he married Stephanie.
@WarhawkBeyond2040
Жыл бұрын
@@TheMelody15 I understand that Triple H was the top heel on Raw but I never truly felt he gave others a chance, I'll admit that he made Randy Orton and Batista into stars during their Evolution run together, he did put Benoit, Batista and Cena over at 3 straight Wrestlemanias but at the same time, even when others were champion, the show was still centred around him. In my opinion, Hunter's place as top guy was already cemented long before he hooked up with Stephanie McMahon and while I'll admit that Hunter did use his influence to secure his spot to help build his own legacy but I think a lot of it was Vince at the back of it to book his son in law to look strong at the expense of the rest of the roster

2003 was a half good half bad year for WWE. On the good side, SmackDown was at its absolute PEAK with Paul Heyman as head booker. Young talent were getting introduced, John Cena started rising up the ranks, the cruiserweight and tag team divisions were great, and the main event scene was stacked with the likes of Big Show, Angle, Taker, Lesnar, Benoit, etc. Meanwhile Monday Night Raw had become the Triple H show. I love Triple H now after the work he’s done in NXT and on the main roster ever since Vince retired, but he was UNBEARABLE during this time.
@BrendenNichols
Жыл бұрын
Triple H is one of my favorite performers ever, but there's no denying he hogged up the spotlight from 2002 through early 2005. He buried a lot of great talent along the way, and I think even he'd have to admit he was immature and selfish during that time. It sucks to see such potential be wasted by greed, but at least he's making up for it with his work in NXT. He's doing well in his new role.

Same here Triple H hogging the belt was.......... 🤢🤢🤢 plus burying WCW superstars was unfair. Kevin Nash and Goldberg should've been top stars for WWE (not Scott Steiner he was too much of an ass, wasn't professional), maybe Vince was still bitter about WCW competition.

WrestleMania 19 Stone Cold Steve Austin retired and the following night on Raw WWE brought in WCW’s bargain basement Steve Austin to replace him.
