I played against a crazy Smoke player earlier today, and was surprised at how fun he looked even though he kicked my ass. The Kombat Kast where he was shown off really didn't do him any justice at nutty his gameplay actually is.

That's just because they didn't do any of the wacky stuff themselves. They showed off all of his moves and a *little* bit of dank, but they never go too far and always let the players figure the rest out. Guaranteed many pro players and other people in the know were *salivating* watching that Kast. Just look at PNDMustard and his chat watching it live.

People knew he'd be good but can't argue that the Kombat cast was awful for majority of characters. I felt like they didn't really plan them out like past Kombat Kast and even Stephanie said that they really didn't know what to do with some characters because they had less time to practice (due to their new job titles). If that's the case, how come they didn't bring in new people for kast. Seems like the marketing and everything was horrible and wouldn't be surprised if all the leaks are too semi blame

Selecting your character before the match starts is a godsend. The counter picking in MK11 was beyond annoying. Also, use Sareena's neutral assist while doing a back throw to drain the crap out of their meter. It's an ambush assist so you can use it whenever

@@crishawngibbsbasically in mk11, if you lose, you can change characters for the next match while the other person has to stay as the character they won as. This led to people choosing counters to the character they lost against, while the other person can do nothing

It’s always such an experience to see Max pick up a new fighting game and simply go and play it casually, simply playing the character for fun and just see how things go.

Some fatal blows have armor, but it's always delayed, with two exceptions: Geras and Reiko. If, say, Kung Lao does a fatal blow, and you're mid animation to hitting him, it should connect and interrupt if it's fast enough. However, once the wind-up animation for their attack begins, most have armor. Some do not.

After fighting like 3 Smoke's in ranked, I can safely say he seems VERY good. His mix is absolutely insane, his combos can do pretty good damage, and his mobility is also very good. You pair all of that up with Sareena, and you've got an absolute menace of a team. Pretty cool! My team right now is Scorpion/Darrius, and I'm having a pretty fun time so far.

@@renmarqueslacks in 2-3 hit combos, they arent too good. his primary use is definitely his slime ball thing for combos/damage. Havent played against anyone online yet using reptile unfortunately.

Love how different the ninjas are in this game, especially smoke. Hes got some really cool, decent damage stuff from his pop ups. Personally I'm really loving how insane some of barakas slashy slash combos are.

I genuinely think he's an insane character in this game. Like, he feels like a mixup/reset character that just also gets the insane damage you get from high risk options on other characters.

Such a pretty game. Smoke looks fun. Love watching Max play. What is not pretty is a gift box and qr code taking up screen real estate. Reminds me of old web pages lol.

I've never had so much fun stringing together combos before in my life, Street Fighter 6 and MK1 both have made me love doing so.

it seemed like they listened to initial criticisms of the gameplay in the stress test. It feels a lot faster than it did in the test. And now I can confidently say that MK1 is very much it's own game with it's own identity. It's not just mk11 again like some were saying. Entirely different game. Smoke is the first character I picked up, and he'll probably be main. He's nuts in this game.

So far, I'm only really enjoying using Sub, Reptile, Geras and Baraka. I really want to get into Smoke, Rain, Havik and Kenshi, but I just can't get their flow yet. Reptile is a tad difficult but I can string pretty alright. Rain is confusing and highly dependent on specials. Stringing isn't so easy. Smoke, on the other hand, seems to go back to basics. Couple hits, special to pop up, another special then couple normals. That's more MK2 than anything.

Reptile is much more accessible to causals than smoke. To fully utilize smokes pressure and mix game you need to master his vapor dash cancel . Reptile isnt hard he’s just bottom tier low damage .
