This came out right at the right time 👍🏻 I’m currently looking at a used XT for my wife n daughter to ride. Not knowing a ton about Yamahas, I really dug into this. Thanks! In your opinion: what tell tale signs should I be on the look out for? Cheers! Also, what great plot of land!

Thanks for watching buddy!!! This was my family's farm place!! The bank still owns but soon she'll be ours!! A few things to look for if over 8-10k miles. Get it good and hot, and listen for any heavy valvetrain noise. A little valve click is okay, but if it gets super loud with time and after its hot, they head can be worn out in the cam journal area. The head is the bearing. Not super common but can happen. Hold it at steady 2-3k rpm and make sure no blue smoke. Lug it good in 4th and see how much clutch pressure makes it slip. 10k hard miles is usually time for clutch plates. If you just lay your hand on the lever and it slips, it's time. Then of course wheel bearings, spokes, and chain and sprocket condition. Steering head bearings seem to last the life of the bike for the most part but wouldn't hurt to check if rode in rocks a ton. Usually if they've even been half way serviced they will run forever!

A used XT225 came up for sale in my area. I was thinking about grabbing it if I can I get it at the right price. So my question is, is there much difference in riding the XT vs the TW?

An xt225 might be one of the best small dual sports ever made. The 6th gear is a game changer. They'll run 65-70 all day and sip fuel. The thing to do is convert the tdub to the 225 swap. A company makes the stub shaft and the only other thing you have to do is use the tdub flywheel on the 225 engine. There's one real good swap video on yt here. But to answer your question, they ride similar, but the tw definitely has the traction advantage to ride slow and easy over steep terrain

Hows it going on getting your TW ready? Like the XT better? Its supposed to be about 30LBs Lighter than the Tw, I love my Tw and ride it more than CT 125. But love both!

Getting the tdub ready soon! All the parts are here and we'll be getting it ready for the Idaho trip! The XT is definitely a different animal than the tdub in its own way. Both very capable bikes

The screws coming from the right hand side of the bike on these things is perrty lame yammaha. I am fixing a no start issue on a customer's xt 225 right now. Found a similar disgusting mess inside the air box of this one as well. Somthing packed sunflower seeds into the box some how. Mixed with oil and air filter material. Nasty. Anyway I am thinking about putting a T or a Y in the breather hose and running one to air box the other tords the ground by the shock. Maybe put a one way check valve in it. Just somthing lower than inside air box. At least it won't pool inside that chamber untill it finally runs out through the side seal.

@davelambardo6464 grew up on Slayer and Thrash man. Saw Sepultura in 93 at Clemson Littlejon. Their original stuff, Beneath the Remains, Arise, etc are still my hands down favorite. Desperate Cry may be my favorite song of all time!
