Very helpful and love how you got the whole family involved including the cat LOL I have a 1995 XT 225 and I get 90 miles per gallon. My dad had a 1978 XT 500 very fun to ride.

Love my bike as well (2007). Thanks for this - husband forwarded it to me to prep me for doing what you just did. And we have a fig tree as well :-) (But no cat - 3 guinea pigs instead)

Rotella T 15-40 is a great inexpensive oil closer to the factory recommended 20W/40. Also the factory filter can be cleaned with a shot of brake cleaner or soaked in varsol etc and be reused many times. They are a great small cc dual sport!

Mine also isn’t to fond on cold starts needs the choke as well , I use 10-30 Lucas that’s what the manual was calling for think it makes much a difference with 10-40?

Shouldn’t make much difference. The 40 would have higher viscosity and do slightly better in high temps.
