    Had mine for a few months already. Lots of shifting because of low gearing. Averaging 53 MPG. 8500 RPM at 80 MPH, kinda buzzy. Last 2 gears are overdrive. Fun, zippy, nimble, light. Throttle is a long pull but forgiving. About 10 MPH and it demands/screams to shift into 2nd. Unique aesthetics. Cheap to maintain and insure. Low tier brakes and lever feel but decent and not crappy. If you taller than 5’9 don’t get this short height bike. 3/4 tuck and NOT full tuck stance. So-so seat over long rides.

    In the UK the speed limit is 70 MPH. The only advantage of a bigger bike is you get to 70 quicker, but with all the disadvantages of a big bike, cost being just one... 🤔 Just got rid of my BIG 4 cyl bike that weighs 220 kg for the lovely MT-03. Happy days 😁

    Wow. Perfect. Ahmen. So sensible! I just watched anothger Vlogger recomend a group of five starter bikes which were all 500-650 lb. cruisers, included a Sportster 883! Insane. Everything on his list was at least 100 lbs. overweight. Insane. The MT-03 looks perfect. A beginner bike must be (1) under 425 lbs. (2) under 50 hp (3) under $5,000. Under, under, under. Gotta learn to walk before trying to join the track team. Here's my progression: (1) '61 Sears MoPed 50cc, (2) '63 Honda 50, (3) '64 Honda 250 Scrambler, (4) '68 Suzuki T500 Titan, (5) '76 Yamaha XS650, (6) '81 Yamaha XV 920R (7) '18 Bonneville T120 1200cc.

    Great review! It’s nice to see someone be down to earth and give an honest opinion that’s not just a draw out and regurgitated line thats been repeated again and again like in all the trending videos. Love your editing style and sense of humor. This little MT-03 will be my first street bike and I’m excited for it. Midnight black colorway is more my style.

    I am 58 and recently returned to riding after a long lay off, I have done the sport bike thing and don't ride for the speed now, I'm currently riding a NC750X which is OK but I'm a bit tired of lugging these heavier bikes around. I love the colour scheme of the featured MT and also the front end, think I will be swapping out pretty soon for the 2020 MT 03.

    Just got a BMW G310GS after deciding to go with a "small" displacement bike. Definitely agree with the sentiment that big is not always better now. It's twice as fun as bigger, heavier, faster bikes. I can really ride it hard without worrying about small mistakes costing me a trip to the hospital or morgue. And even then I'm not even close to the bikes potential. Makes you focus more on being as efficient as possible with your cornering, braking, accelerating, and shifting/clutch technique instead of just being singularly concerned with throttle control all the time.

Was many who thought my bike was a 650 cc...because he look big, 2 cylinder and seat high 78.5 cm..Easy to handle, and I ride it mostly on highway, and excellent in wind! Only miss more top speed ( 165 km/ h), is 322 cc u know, but break good and suspension very okay.

    Another great down to earth review. Can't argue with any of your points. Only just of recent am I noticing these 'smaller' bikes here in Australia, mainly because of the Food Delivery riders, most of whom are of Indian origin, using them over scooters. I unfortunately weigh in at over 130Kg (280lbs) and need cubic inches just to get my fat ass moving but if I was skinny I'd love a light bike, they simply are more fun.

    Looks wise, the Ducati should be appealing to the older, "why the heck can't they make a smaller standard motorcycle" crowd. Maybe it's the orange and black paint scheme that looks a little familiar as well. Reviews of smaller (to us) bikes are always good to watch. What would be really cool is a review of that old Polish 350cc sidecar rig you mentioned once. Is that still made? I was drooling over its bigger comrade, the Ural Patrol for a while, but the Russkies price it like it was a Harley.

  • @DifferentSpokesTV

    @DifferentSpokesTV

    3 жыл бұрын

    I don’t think that those Polish bikes are made anymore and I hear the Ural is as reliable as a meth addict. I’d love to see Harley just build an 80ci Evo FXR and sell it at a good price. I’d even buy one with a radiator if that’s what it takes to pass emissions. Oh, and the Scrambler 400 is almost the same as the 800 at almost the same price so it’s kinda hard to justify buying one over the standard Scrambler. I guess if someone is a total beginner and can afford a premium smaller bike they can get one, but I’d be awful tempted to skip the middle man on that one. Cheers!

    @@DifferentSpokesTV - The MT-03, CB500x and INT650 have compression ratios of 11.2:1, 10.7:1 and 9.5:1 , respectively. I think engine longevity and need for high octane fuel puts the Interceptor 650 first and the MT-03 last for long distance, especially 3rd-world, touring.

    CBR500 is obviously faster, mpg wise probably the same. The main difference is the engine characteristic, MT03 has very revvy engine, while the 500r gives out power in lower revs, not that the CBR can't rev high but torque is immediately available.

And people get 4,6 litres/100kms, which is quite a lot, but I bet most riders thrash their bike and that will obviously peak the consumption. I will unlikely sell my BMW R1200RT this year. But if I do sell it eventually, I am thinking of something 300-500cc. I am just done trying to have the most ridiculous power in a bike. Plus there are far better riders out there. The roads in Germany are too busy with anything, so racing is too dangerous. You always have to anticipate someone making a mistake and this anticipation/awareness is what keeps a rider alive more than any helmet or other safety feature.

    I like it pretty well, but it looks like a preying mantis insect. Still don't know why Yamaha hasn't made an XSR classic style out of this chassis--- would be easy for them to do. Maybe Yamaha thinks the "kids" and "beginners" won't like a classic look--- but I think they would be wrong. The only "style" that's unappealing to young and new riders these days is "cruisers". I think a retro naked bike would be a hit with new riders, plus riders with some miles under their belt who could appreciate a classic style. Those big, giant, high, wide, quasimodo Hunchback of Notre Dame humps in front of the seat are awful on ALL bikes. I can't even call them "gas tanks" anymore because they all are just plastic covers.
