Thanks you for your comments! I do my best to keep up with them for the first few days after a video comes out, but due to the volume of comments on all of my videos, and to the general hustle and bustle of life, I must give up the fight after a while. If you are leaving a question four or more days after a video comes out I can't guarantee I'll see it, but perhaps one of my other viewers knows the answer and can help out. Thanks in advance to those who contribute and share their knowledge. Cheers and stay safe everyone!

This review resonated with me big time as I am pretty much an amateur rider myself, especially on gravel. I must have watched close to a 100 review videos on the T7 by now and one thing that seems to stand out, is how easy it is to actually ride this bike. Thank you for a great and honest review that appeals much more to us less experienced riders!

Great review! I have had my T7 for a few weeks now and agree with everything you said. I love it! I added led turn signals, tail tidy, pro taper FMX bars, AXP skid plate, and a dominator GP1 exhaust. Those few mods solved all the "issues" I had with the T7. But then again I do those same mods to every bike I buy. What initially sold me on the bike, was the local dealership said their mechanic put a deposit on one after looking at it for only a few minutes. They also said that their service shop is primarily filled with orange bikes. I always prioritize reliability and long service intervals. If you are a professional rider, enjoy taking your bike to the dealership and being without it for weeks, and must have all the latest and greatest fancy gadgets, get the ktm 790. If you are not, and none of that sounds like a fun time, get the T7. You will not be disappointed!

@@DifferentSpokesTV We are planning a long haul from US-NC to Brazil in 2021. It should take about 30 days riding and my plan is to go through whole countries on Andes before entering in Brazil: Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and finally Brazil. The Tenere 700 was something that I had in mind, but after your and other considerations, I might switch to the Super Tenere or a African Twin. 30 days ride is a long journey!

My Stelvio was a handful when not on pavement. Happy trails and stay safe on your trip!

Hey Spokes, awesome T7 review and narrative! Like many older guys, I saw the big adventure bikes ads I can FINALLY afford. What pros can do with those tall and heavy monsters is inspiring. What the ads don't say is the number of years and broken bones it takes to get there alive. So I lied to myself and bought an Africa Twin. Scared the **** out of me on the trail then traded it for a CRF250L while swearing I'll never look back at the big horses. EVER! Until I saw your review. Maybe the T7 with humility and wiser choice of off-road fights is something to consider. Thanks!

Excellent review! I appreciate your very evident "writer" talent. Of course I'm a huge Art of War fan also. I'm deciding between this, a used GS or a Tracer/VStrom and love the off road ability but, in all honesty that would be 10-20% of my riding (down and back in Baja from San Diego). I love camping and am thinking the used GS or Tracer/Vstrom route now. Great review and anxious for your other videos! Thanks Different Spokes TV!

Thanks for the complement. A bigger used bike would be more comfy on the long haul but if you're in the loose stuff there's no substitute for good sized wheels and lightness. Also you get the warranty when buying new. I've regretted buying used last time but it's all about the kind of riding you do. If one of the other bikes will take you where you're going more comfortably then go for it. This one is a bit more off-roady but if you never go that far off the beaten path then you're not missing much. Cheers!

Nice Review. I know you said it, but airing down your tires is one key to offroad traction. It will also reduce bouncing around on rocks and a potential bike dump. A cheap battery micro air compressor is worth tossing in your tank bag. I eventually got tired waiting for the release and bought a Husky501. Glad I enjoyed those last few years riding instead of waiting. The T7 machine really butts heads weight wise with the Tiger 900 Rally, but it always comes out on top based on price. Happy trails!

Coming from a KLR, I think this would be well suited to me as It's the same weight with twice the power. The only drawback for me would be the suspension as I ride hard off road.

Well said. Tenere thinks it's a big dirt bike & goads the rider into challenging terrain with confidence. Picking it up, on the other hand, encourages the rider to keep it real & not get too far over their head. Hope yours arrives soon! Different Spokes TV smaller than mine! (2017 Africa Twin) I was too chicken to take it out anywhere that really pushed outside my comfort zone until this year. While I’ve ridden it more on paved and dirt roads than off road I tagged along with someone I met while riding for a local dual sport ride and it did well going down some things I wasn’t sure I could do on it. I’m planning to do more. Enjoy yours when it arrives. I will admit it is a tempting bike ;-)

hey spokes, great video!, loved the writing and your enthusiasm and honesty, here is a word of advice from an advanced off-road rider: You should get enduro classes to polish your skills, ( or at least watch youtube videos on skills) then you can truly push any bike to its limits and enjoy the Tenere to the fullest. Trust me when I say you haven´t even scratched the surface of that bike is capable of, and ALL the professionals started like you, clueless and dreadful, but in a year you will have a completely different perspective, with better skills and more confidence, year by year, as long as you practice at least once a week and pay attention to the pros, in 4 years there is little you can´t do as long as you´re willing, from big jumps to impossible hill climbs. Physics are truly astonishing when you play with them and through hardship, failure, trial and error, to conquer triumphantly something that you deemed impossible is truly the best feeling ever. Chase it and never quit!!!

Hello Canada! The Mojave Desert here! Your admission that you’re not a seasoned dirt rider is really clear when you go back for more torture without airing down the tires. I suggest you invest in a 2-stage bicycle pump that makes spiriting back up quick and easy. Take it from one who rides deep sand all the time.

Honesty in reviews is why we watch these videos. You did an excellent job. Presently considering an adventure bike, your's is the kind of company I'd keep and the kind of advice I'd be looking for. I love your realistic approach to, well, reality: Most riders won't look much like the carefully planned and executed shots made with professional riders kicking up dust and making high jumps. Plus, being an cultural historian, the references made to Thermopylae, Sun Tzu and how we all have our limits, just added that extra spice. Excellent! Not typical for a biker, I guess? - but then, what is typical for a biker these days?

Another inspiring video based on real world experiences and not produced by ad experts using rally riders to make riding up a 30% grade on hard ground look heroic. I have to say that my Griso wouldn't have any of the issues you encountered in this video because I don't dare take it off road :) On the other hand, after a lifetime of shunting big heavy dual purpose bikes , I'm a firm believer in separate bikes for road and trail to maximize fun and minimize injuries. I loved my 600 Tenere with the big 30litre tank, but it was crap off road (way too heavy) however it was a really nice long distance road bike if you don't mind drive chain maintenance. I'm not overly impressed with the Tenere 700, even tho it does seem the perfect bike for you, however I'm staying subbed because of the high quality of your videos!

Great review ! Refreshingly honest. The best point you make is that for ‘average skilled riders’ the T7 is an excellent on/off road Adventure bike and it’s the most affordable in its class. I’m an ‘average skilled rider’ and my focus is on ‘safely riding through scenic’ country side, both on and off road, I don’t want to be distracted by excessive high Tech ‘riding Modes’ etc and I’m not interested in tackling ‘technical singe track’ or emulating high speed ‘Dakar Rally riders’. Some other forums are claiming that KTM’s 890 R can only take Premium fuel because it’s motor runs a much higher ‘compression’.

I really like your review, it does make a few excellent points about the capabilities of the bike compared to that of riders like me. If I may, by the sound of your engine on Heartbreak Hill you seem to be in too high a gear and you are going too slow. With mine I would be standing on the pegs in second gear at preferably 3000rpm or above. And yes, start in second gear and gather momentum before attacking your slope. Gas it when you hit a difficult spot, and ease off the throttle as soon thereafter as you can to avoid going too fast. Let it do its magic - it's such a thrill! Sit only when safe or to dab the ground as needed. Also 300km to get to the last bar of fuel - you probably like the growling sound of the exhaust: I tested going to empty and got 204miles (328km) without trying to ride it in an unusually high gear. If you buy one, be nice to it and unless you are really doing a long stretch without gas stations you will run it at around 3000rpm or more, or you risk damaging your engine and carbonizing your spark plugs in the long term. Be well!!

great review. Realistic! Also, unlike the KTM, the Yam will work 1000 miles from home, with no workshop in sight. I appreciate things like reliability, simplicity and dependability in an adventure bike - far more important than outright performance. It is expensive for what it is though, but then so's the competition.

Great review. Its nice to see someone with more average rider skills off road. No offense, but like you said, knowing a 500lb KTM can hit a 25 foot double does most of us no good and for those who it does help, well they're probably not watching these reviews.
