    You need to make sure the exhausty valve is closed at TDC. Don't keep running it that way, you might burn the exhaust valve/seal.

    This is a huge help.. I couldn’t figure out the timing issue to save my life.

    No it dont backfire, it starts just fine. I rode it around the yard and the pipe at the header was glowing red. I took it off and started it and, it shoots out flames. I think the timing is late

    You mean it runs but backfires? Or does it not even start.

    hey man thanks for the video. I have a question please help. I need to replace my decompression pin I believe. do you remember if you can get that pin out without removing the cam shaft? I really want to avoid having to get it lined back up with proper timing. would I be able to do it without removing cam?

    I can't remember. I still think my compression release is not working properly. but I can bump the starter to get it to turn over.

    My timing is still off, I got flames coming out of my cylinder .. Thinking its late

    @sleblanc74 Hello. Even with the chain tensioner removed, there was not enough slack in the chain to allow removal of the camshaft with the gear in place. Unbolting the gear allowed me to drop the gear down just enough to slide the chain off.

    Hate to harass you with questions but after my rebuild i hear a little ticking. this is my first rebuild.so i am not sure of the sound. some people say the decompression pin will remain out if you time it wrong. how loud would this be?

  • @stevewatr

    @stevewatr

    6 жыл бұрын

    Sorry, I do not know how loud that would be. If it was that, wouldn't you have low power from low compression? I've even heard a head gasket leak that sounded like a clicking noise. Not saying that's the cause, just saying it could be so many things. I'd take a length of small hose, hold one end up near (not in!) my ear, and "sniff" around with the other end of the hose to try and isolate where the sound is coming from. As always, remember, I am not a mechanic, just a guy who loves loves trying to be one! Happy Holidays!

    What I am saying is, they may be fine now, but that might change if you continue to run it that way.
