@@ramblesrandom it's easy...it's kills your battery, it's also cropped more than 18:9 streched while watching some videos and even with some notch phone are trying to hide their notch while gaming...it's distractive and gimmicky. i would rather have the second screen like LG and HTC that have more features rather than aesthetics-gimmicky notch.

Sony phones have one thing that is always underrated and can't be seen in reviews. Sony's quality is absolutely excellent. Their phones last for a really long time unlike many other manufacturers. My Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is still working absolutely fine after 6 years of release. Sony is just so good at quality control.

i love the linear response of light in the photos, just like in their alphas, i dont like the fake HDR that most phones use nowadays, the color science in the night is the best and the sensivity for video is one step ahead.

I don't know why the media is emphasising on the price when all of them are having the same issue with the high price but doesn't offer much. The note 9 is like note 8 so why one would upgrade to it??? The iphon X doesn't even deserve a 1K with his low resolution and low battery with no sd card. Also others will offer 1000 phones and same but why your getting biased when it comes to Sony. I think your all paid and you can't say a thing about your sponsors when they're giving you money and Sony doesn't pay you, so you will find any reason to say anything about it. For the heft of the phone, people can adapt. Same for the fignerprint. The camera doesn't look dull, it the natural looking, but you can't see that since you use artificial colours on your pictures since your using iPhone and huawei and Samsung. So yea the camera is the hype. Also you didn't even show us a low light shots with the high iso as the other videos. I think you didn't have time to use it or simply didn't know how to use the camera.

I straight up bought it.. But it's DOA.. freezes and reboots at random.. took me +30min just to get through the setup process. The on/off button takes like 5-7 sec before registering the press to active the screen... idk guess I have to return it.. At least it's "only" priced at 800 euros and comes with a free WH-1000xm2

Great review, glad to see someone paying attention to Sony! Really liked that bit of Akira as well 👌 As an user of an XZ2 Compact and someone who goes at stores from time to time to check what's the latest tech, I would say that your opinions on the XZ2 Premium are pretty spot on. For such a huge amount of money, I would either recommend to look up for the XZ2 (Compact) at Amazon if you're looking for a phone now (starting at $499!) or save some money and wait for the XZ3 Premium or whatever comes next.

Hi! It's an H8314 (international model, certified for Verizon), after around two months of usage by testing on European LTE networks as well as many Wi-Fi connections around the globe I would say it's as good as it gets.

XZ2 Premium any day. P20 Pro's setup is nice, but underwhelming software kind of ruins it already. The only thing I like about it is the tripod-free Night Mode, but that will only work with non-moving subjects, and it still has the capacity to have motion blur due to the limitations of its AI stabilization.

You can get the xz2 premium for between 550 and 660 on some sites and you can get the silver finish which I believe is not available in the UK.

I believe you say the "camera experience" is the same for the newbie XZ3 when compared to the XZ2 premium but the latter has a better sensor (f1.8) which definitely helps it in low light photography. In addition, the dual lens is a major improvement.

You are the first reviewer that thinks a 2k oled panel is better than the display on this phone. Please do extensively research like Monica did showing the qualities of all the top end phones. If you do or check out those who have done real display measurement tests you won't compare the display on this XZ2 premium with any other in the market.

OLED is garbage. Even if it looks good out of the box, it won't after a year or two. The comparisons between phones that have remained in the box vs. ones that have seen significant use are telling. Getting deeper blacks (but lower brightness) is just not worth having ruined colour balance (particularly on white) once your phone has been used for a while.

People don't understand sony is a Japanese company they value reliability a lot explains why they didn't opt for oled for so long while the sheep wanted oled that doesn't last or look as good in the long term

I prefer oled but colour accuracy better in lcd and this display has great colour

hey just to mension your video look very bad quality, (for 2018 by the way) i lock it at Full HD and even there, it was not even close to Full HD at some spots, it looks actually closer to 360p, and it gets very blury sometimes. however i think something went wrong in the processing, i will recommend you fix it and reupload if it can be fixed :-)

Did he say xz3 premium? Tbh I'm not impressed with the xz3. Coming back to the single lens. The p20 has 3 and I currently have the Xperia x. Was looking forward to the xz3 as an upgrade to be better than the p20

I have the xz premium and I don't want to get the xz2 premium because of the design I don't like I'm thinking to get the xz3 when released

no review about its dual camera mode, in HDR and night HDR in HLG & JPEG xt, it is like buying huawei P20 pro with 3 cameras and just use its single camera. There are so many things you miss out on its camera where others phone manufacturer that does not have, until " 2k display is better than a 4k 600nit HDR display", i see where is this review going

Wating for next premium from Xperia.

I have watched P20 Pro but overall Xz2 Premium is still better. IPhone X is nothing compared to Xz2 Premium. Especially Xz2 Premium is the best Camera Phone in Low Light.

Decent review, if not totally accurate. I ended up going with this phone over the Huawei P20 Pro and did so because the camera produced more realistic and sharper images. Like a lot of people ,you may prefer the over saturated colours that Huawei is known for, so that would be a personal preference and not a fault with the camera. Having said that, you can choose different colour modes to enable more saturation if you want the images to really pop. You mention the iphone and Samsung Note that are in the same price range, yet they have an inferior camera. What makes them more worthy of that price point? My sister has the iPhone X and my friend has the Samsung Note 9 , yet both were wowed with the photos that it took. I agree that the phone is slippery but to be fair, most people have a case on it so that it doesn't really matter. To answer your question, yes the camera hype is real and well deserved.

the reason why the bezels are thick its because of the stereo speakers and the fact that SD845 doesnt support 4k+ 18:9

The price tag is justified just because of the screen. It's something unique, 4k on a screen like that is crazy. It's like when you see those 8k TV at CES that won't be on consumer market because they cost more than 20 000€.

I don't know what's wrong, Video stabilization in my Xperia XZ2 Compact is impressive even in 4K HDR. I advice you checkout video settings to turn on stabilization.

I bought the Moto Z2 Force for half it’s launch price of less than 6 months after it’s release. I think I’ll be able to do the same with this phone.

Seems alright. Well, pretty good actually. I just can't get the past the physical appearance of the device.

Great video, but I think Sony only releases Premium version every 1 year/2 gen of their flagship. Their next Premium would be XZ4 Premium

I'm pretty sure you didn't use the Bokeh mode right at all. That looks like the effect from the Bokeh app. It is SONY's fault for making things confusing but it's your fault for not trying. I mean, did you even try the manual mode at all? That's where the hardware really shines

I wouldn't be fussed but I've been using the Sony mdr-NC31E earphones (with active noise cancellation) for years, and it's annoying that they're not compatible with the xz2p because they have a 5 pole jack whereas from what Sony have told me the adapter isn't compatible with 5 pole earphones. I just don't really understand what they get from removing features like their active noise cancellation, as far as I know they were the only people who supported it so it that was a big reason for me sticking with sony.

I kind of like 16:9 displays now since the whole market is flooded with 18:9 displays and notch

I like the design, but the XZ3 just make it feel outdated, the XZ3 Premium should be much better in my opinion. This phone is all about the camera, and it shows in low light, definitely one of the best. I would have bought it if it was released earlier, but the XZ3 just spoiled me, now I'm waiting for the XZ3 Premium or the next new one that'll come with the S855.

Yep, XZ3 Premium it is! The only last hope for me is for them to return the 3.5mm jack. If they don't bother, then I guess at least giving all users the Y-style dongle would be appreciated.

Would never buy a XZ3. OLED panels look nice and pretty at first, but after a year or two look terrible; the colour balance gets all off, most notable on whites. LCDs maintain their quality for the lifespan of the device.
