Humans have a hard enough time navigating vehicles in two dimensions, much less three. So, yeah pilot's license and all the required FAA training and certification... Even in our children's lifetimes, you'll see very few very rich people authorized to fly these things. Still cool but a fantasy we and our children will not see

Yes but no. People are more than capable of flying a car and navigating it in a 3 dimensional environment. Are there people who shouldn't or couldn't? Yes. That's true with normal cars as well. But, giving people an additional option alleviates stress on all other options. We have an issue in the US with cars being the only mode to get around. Making those who shouldn't drive or those who don't want to drive forced to drive. Increasing the likelihood of accidents. But automated flight would solve a lot of the issues. Automating flying is far easier than automating driving. Aircraft have been largely automated now for years. Pilots are obviously there for the safety factor but the newest aircraft in flight commercially today can take off, navigate and land all on their own.

I feel like flying cars will be the norm when my kids have kids.. they’re next after electric cars completely take over.

Sorry this is only a concept that a company has about how they wanna be "flying cars", but there's one massive elephant in the room that any of that companies seems to care about or simply doesn't bother in order to rise funds from investors... and it's the law, yes the aeronautical laws. Think about it, RPAS (drones) are mostly not allowed to fly over people, inside cities, etc... we are talking devices no more than 25-50kg with special permits and strict rules and flight paths, also this devices are very susceptible to radio jamming so in order to avoid crashes over buildings and people are almost a no GO. Let's rise the notch, helicopters, proven, reliable, human operated in site, also with very strict rules to flight in cities, and only can land in certain spots. A few cities have a "well" ordered air space to let helicopters (ambulance, police, press, tourism/taxi (expensive and few of them at same time)) to fly over the cities. Now imagine a lot of this cars flying like cars do in the road, crashes in mid air that fall on the ground, air races, yes rich people with no brain will take the fathers aerocar and race with it, like with normal cars, building crashes, etc... Then when they decide to "land" to go at land mode, where? When they want? in special aerocar landing area, damn this is an airport right? so whats is the purpose then? if you cannot arrive at your spot and need to drive at the other side of the city to the airport, and need to cross again driving, nonsense. Also they are electrical propelled right? and 756g Mavic cannot flight more than 30min.... a car? 1000kg (super optimistic) with a passenger and batteries, with actual tech, 10 minutes flight time. One of the most advanced UCAV, the Reaper, has a one Honeywell TPE331-10 turboprop, 900hp power plant, it's a combustion engine, and can carry 4000kg. Let's face it this tech is far from being a reality, safe and reliable.

Looks extremely expensive....2 or 3 million dollars? Or more? Looks like it CAN fit in a single car garage.....but would require a big area for take off and landing like a helicopter. ALMOST a true flying car......True flying car can take off vertically from a parking spot in a shopping center.
