I’ve been rewatching the X-Men films recently and one thing that really impressed me is how intimate they are and the emphasis on real character interaction. The MCU has most of its characters speak with too many quips and they never feel very real. There’s a level of maturity and sophistication that I think modern comic book movies are lacking

Took the words right out of my mouth. I completely agree! Which is half the time, really more often than not, I can’t fully immerse myself into the MCU movies and fully enjoy them. These early Bryan Singer X-Men movies feel way more real and the characters feel like actual people and how they would actually interact and react.

I think a real good example to further on this as I've been watching the TV series The incredible hulk from the 1970s and that series really shows why a good hulk movie can't be made nowadays because it relies all on the CGI where is the TV show is all drama character interaction great acting and really strong writing and it's best episodes... I mean sure Lou ferrigno might look a little silly at times but there's a sophistication even in its crudeness that can't be found in today's best CGI lol. I'm amazed at how much I'm enjoying this TV show since I haven't really visited it since I was a child... Bill Bixby deserves a hell of a lot of credit for making such a ridiculous concept work so well lol...

Right on the money. Earnestness is dying in modern CB films. Every character is a too-cool-for-school cynic who is over it. And every line they have is composed of a noun, a verb, and a pop culture reference.

I'll never understand how Cyclops is the dick and Wolverine is the hero when Logan is the one trying to move in on a woman in a committed relationship.

the movie is like 100 minutes long.. I couldn't believe it on rewatch, whoever decided to cut these scenes is a fool. they always cut the best scenes from x-men movies

I still wish the "real combat" line was kept in. It was an awesome callback to Logan's history in World War 2.

These feel like real characters having real life interactions. MCU can't speak a sentence without vomiting a joke every minute

Jubilees only appearance in the deleted scenes, wishing she had bigger roles, one primary character missing in the entire X-Men movie series

Omg Jean and Charles' relationship is AWESOME, would've loved to see this included. Famke is wonderful as Jean♡

They should've kept the extended Storm class teaching scene and her interaction with Rogue. That's one of the best scenes in the movie, and it was cut? I can't believe it was cut out of the movie.

It’s a good scene. But I don’t mind that classroom footage was used in the “What is this place?” exposition montage. I have always felt this movie is too short (one of the reasons I love it actually, because of how tightly written and edited it is), but realized most of these deleted scenes don’t change much at all about the vibe or flow of the film. If anything, it’s kinda good we didn’t have an extended Storm dialogue sequence in this first movie wherein Halle Berry was still attempting an African accent for the character.

I understand why they cut the Cerebro scene, however, I think it really think it adds a lot to Jean and Charles’s relationship, an element that was abscent in this film but very present in the rest. Also, seeing more of Famke as Jean is a delight.

The first scene teasers/explains Magneto's plan to turn the world leader into mutans becauss in the Roman Empire christians were accepted after Emperor Constantine and the elite became christians. You really can learn something about minorities etc by studying history.

Chemistry between Jean and Scott is off charts❤❤❤ The way they hold hands makes my day brighter, shinier, and I immediately want to live.

Rogue is new at the school and overwhelmed by her powers and the whole situation. But I hate it how the movies potrayed her us weak and shy. Normally she is a real strong badass.

She has a lot more in common with Rogue from “X-Men: Evolution” than XTAS, which is definitely a departure, but still not a totally unfounded take on the character. That being said, I 100% want MCU Rogue to feel more in line with XTAS because how cool would that be?

Yes, this one is not Rogue definitely, one of the movie' s deadliest sins.

I wish they made it a running gag that Cyclops saved Logans life and Logan gets irratated each time because it isn't true.

3:44 it would’ve been cool if they kept that line in, since Rogue got the cure in The Last Stand

I noticed many mutants are not called by their real names. Storm is rarely called Ororo, Rogue is rarely called Marie and Mystique is rarely called Raven (I'm saying it because she and Charles knew each other in 1962 before the revised timeline ever happened, and he still calls her Mystique). Iceman introduces himself as Bobby, while Rogue introduces herself as Rogue. Why?

Most likely because of their experience with their mutations and how people treat them because of it. Storm I think in the comics was adored by her village because she saved them from a drought, so she had pride in her powers. Her powers are a strong part of her life, so she takes on the name “Storm” when she joins the X-Men. Rogue adopted her name because of the fact that she ran away from home, and it represents her isolation that she feels from her powers. And because of the pain that she caused among the people she touched when she first got her powers, her running away and changing her name means that she would rather forget her past life. Bobby/Iceman didn’t tell his parents of his powers until the second movie, so he still has the connection to his real name, which is what his family only knows him as. I think it all just depends on how much a mutation impacts their lives, and their perception of it. I hope I answered your question as best as I could.

Even after having the second youngest oscar winning actress, they didn't make Rogue...an important and stronger character in the later movies. She was one of the first mutant to be introduced in the movies.

To be honest, I also remember a few things differently from my first viewing of the movie... like Rogue being harrased in the bar and Logan saving her? Then I read the companion comic book that came out before the movie hit cinemas, and it happened exactly like that... Weird. There are some unexplained things about this movie... and maybe its different versions. :D

I never liked Famke Jensen as Jean Grey, the actress was a little too old for her (Scott looks too young next to her). I think some other ginger actress like Jessica Chastain would have been better as Jean, and a perfect match for Cyclops as James Marsden. Cyclops and Rogue are too underrated in the films.

@@LilacSreya But she is younger. In 1979 (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) Scott is ~15, in 1986 (opening scene of The Last Stand) Jean is ~13. (On the other opinion, opening of TLS takes place in 1980, timelines in X-Men are really messy). But lol, I think they look the same age, category "maybe 25, maybe 35, who knows".

AKTHUALLY it`s not true, emperor Constantine only adopted xtianity for his empire because christians were easy to control, he himself "converted" on his deathbed, just because he couldn`t be burried in his own tomb, in his christian empire, as a pagan, but he lived as a pagan all his life.

These were all cut because of Storm’s terrible accent.

The only thing worse than Halle berry as storm is Halle Berry with an accent as storm.
