It probably had to do with the changing directors. From what I've read, this movie changed directors twice. The director in charge of completing the project probably decided that the scene didn't fit his vision. You can tell based on these deleted scenes that this movie was originally going to focus alot more on Jean than it did, but the last director changed course and decided to play it safer instead.

Bratt Ratner did a fair job considering he and the writers were too much restricted to all the consistent changes to story and characters made by Bryan Singer. The movie tries really hard to cover a lot of events and characters at the same time. But after rewatching it a few months ago I realized that some elements make it far better than Apocalypse.

All this nonsense you guys are pulling out of your rears about Sophie being a wooden actor or that she just didn't have the character down is straight bull. She pulled Jean's character off perfectly and is even gorgeous as her, it's up to you to expand your mind beyond one thing and enjoy both versions of something and appreciate both work of the actors. I'm not sure why we live in a world where everything has to be one thing or the other and as for sexiness ...you're just a freakin creep and I think your comment speaks for itself. I mean for crying out loud this version of Jean Grey literally did nothing but stand and stare for the entire movie and you guys are acting like it's award-winning. This actress is absolutely incredible and she understands Phoenix down to a T but Sophie's version of Jean Grey was much more human and easier to Empathize with. Cope, this is the internet, I’m 100% free and allowed to stand by my opinion and you won’t change my stance on the subject. 17 years of acting have taught me one thing or two and super special fx (I couldn’t care less about them to be honest) have nothing to do with Famke’s portrayal of the character through masterful gazes, attitude and micro expressions way more believable than… whatever you were trying to defend here. Some of these deleted scenes being missing from the final cut is so annoying. Storm raising a tidal wave, Jean actually refusing to participate in the battle. Rogue actually keeping her powers - a way better resolution to that plot point. So many of these should have stayed in!

They should not have deleted most of these. Rogue coming back and showing that she's excepted her powers and reunites with Bobby is perfect for her character arc. Wolverine returning to the bar in Canada from the beginning of the first one would be a fitting end to the original trilogy.

This movie's special effects were amazing and it did change a few characters around say their ages the younger mutants were a little younger than their comic counterparts and the rise of Magneto in this was utterly fantastically acted, although the film was about mutants it reflects at the time load of real events that were to come over the years to follow about trust and what it is to be human not everything is down to DNA it is people and this world. The X-Men like Stan Lee said the X-Men, are remarkable but without the mutant gen, these people are human through and through. It is a powerful message about what is expected of the sacrifice of one's right to exit with mutants or perhaps people who are heroes and wear masks and put their lives on the line against the world that considers mutants the emerging threat to be someone who saves the human race every day, the code of a hero to defend and protect everyone. The movie itself was fantastic but it did leave you wondering what was happening next. Today they are returning to The Universe Marvel, X-Men and possibly were there all along hidden by the powerful mind of Professor Xavier shielding the world from them till they were ready to fight?
