I can’t imagine joining a modeling club that includes you. My best efforts ever would look like your first models without doubt. Even back when I had the eyes and patience for such work, I couldn’t manage the detail so cleanly. I slowly acquired a taste for WWI airplanes which seem to manage to fly with all their guts hanging out in the wind so to speak, as opposed to the sleek, relatively boring early jets of my youth (I’m 71). I can practically feel the texture of the fabric wing and fuselage skin, and smell the castor oil from the engines of your model.

It really works great and the paint and details are excellent. I just built a 1/32 scale Bucker BU 131 German WW II bi-plane from Revell model, it was fairly easy, the only tricky part was the rigging wires, so I bought a good set of tweezers, I plan on making a model of the Zeppelin Staaken WW I heavy bomber, I see Roden models makes one and those tweezers will be handy for all the rigging.

I know I've just watched you make it but it's still hard to believe the result, I think it's called making a silk purse out of a sow's ear. A spectacular transformation, thanks for sharing it. Spectacular build! So much color and detail for the eyes to feast upon. I'm torn as to what was my favorite part, because the wood slat hull looked heavy and beautifully finished, but the elaborate rigging and eye tearing color scheme (really, what was the point in painting the tops of the wings green as if they were camouflaged when the sides looked like a circus tent?) was amazing. The engines were gorgeous and the way you built the frame to leave the inside cabin visible was superb! Just can't say enough about what a great piece of kit it turned out to be except that if the other modelers in the club give you any competition at all, it must be an exceptional bunch of craftsmen!
