The CanyonX pack has a shedload of track variants, and this time I'm trying the Short Bridge course.
It's essentially a Figure of 8 but with a bridge instead of an intersection. To add challenge, it's a mostly narrow track with several tricky corners and a chicane of three humps which you really don't want to explore. Because the game put me on pole, my intention was to have a bit of practice and then re-launch in the hope it would put me further back, but I got fenced (well, barriered) on the first corner and was immediately well down the field. So I’ve kept this one because, unlike all the other videos, this was my very first attempt; in fact my first experience of the course as I hadn’t even seen this layout raced on KZread.
It went well, mostly - enough for a win anyway. I got caught out on a couple of corners but that was just part of getting used to the track. The only truly embarrassing bit was the antepenultimate corner of the final lap (coming down from the bridge) where I turned myself into the wall. I could say the landing from the bridge unsettles the car a bit - and it probably does - but I’d managed it well enough for the preceding 9 laps. On lap 10 I just went into crap mode at that point.
