WoW Refugee reacts to "Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 in a Nutshell"

Ойындар

Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 in a Nutshell hilariously documents the hardships of the Original FFXIV before Yoshida came in and started working on FFXIV Realm Reborn.
Great Video.

You really should watch the No Clip Documentary of the Fall and Rise of FF14. And yes its almost 3 hrs long but its rewarding. The whole "Burn it down" process was actually made right after Yoshi-P became a Director. He splittet the whole Team from the beginning. 1 Part made 1.0 at least "Playable" while the other half already worked on the 2.0 Version. Actually its just amazing that he was able to Develop a complete new Game and specially a MMO one of the most Complex Genres out there in under 2 Years WHILE working at the same time on the other Dumpster Fire. WoW took around 4-5 Years for Developing. And i know that is actually a funny Video but the Square Enix President indeed apologized in Public at a Press Conference for the current State of the Game.

This is the good depiction of properly using your resources. They played WOW to see basis of the mechanics. They took many assets from 1.0. They made a good game on a potential that 1.0 They cut a lot of corners and it is visible in ARR content, but it was the only way they could've make it. It's not because they didn't want to use more resources and time. It's because they couldn't and didn't have those. And then they got the resources and started making updates and expansions. This is result of incredible dedication.

I played FF14 on launch and I think I lasted 3 weeks before I gave up. They weren't kidding that it didn't allow your character to jump. I remember hearing a comment from one of the Japanese devs being confused about why American players wanted to be able to jump. After all these years I decided to play FF14 again and I'm loving it.

@@curiouscarlo7276 I bought the collector's edition on the day the game was released and played for about 3-4 weeks at the most then never went back. I never did the thing where they offered existing players a free copy of the game though. ( I think that's what they offered). I thought about trying out FF14 a few years ago but never could get access to my old account. It wasn't till about a month ago that I decided to try it again using the free trial. About a week later I just bought the game and pre-ordered the coming expansion as well. Coming into the game so late I'm a bit overwhelmed because there's so much to do. LOL I'd been playing WOW since launch and finally gave up on it about 2-3 years ago so I've been craving a fun MMO again and FF14 fits perfectly!

i heard somewhere that 2 people actually died from exhaustion. also Yoshi-P explicitly stated that his team *must not* work overtime, pretty much *banned* overworking during ARR development, wonder if it was the cause

Well, the overtime policy is a bit flexible, but generally, the don't allow it, and it has become a company wide policy. A couple devs, off the clock, made some head gear available to Viera and Rothgar, circlets, glasses, and masks.

About the not existing Auction house. It was a nightmare! It was a long list of instanced rooms, were players retainers were set up. You would have to enter each one of them, filled with npcs, and click each of them to see what it is selling if you were looking for something specific...

11:36 ironically the opening of the realm reborn was actually what happened at the end of 1.0 all the players took part in this massive fuck off battle and had to try and stop dalamud from falling the result we have an epic opening for the fixed game.

Is speaking from someone who is playing final fantasy just walking Inn and has been a World of Warcraft player for 16 years. I kind of agree I would really like to see a realm reborn the problem is you actually need good people and Passion that people don't do that and the sad truth is. Blizzard doesn't have those people not a lot of them at least so my question would be can they get away with it

The biggest Problem with WoW is its Age. everyone of the Core Dev Team of WoW is already gone. Either they left, get fired or doing something else now. On the FF14 side nearly all of the Core Members of the Team are still working on the Game. We dont know what the Future holds but when FF14 is on its lifespan WoW is now on , it could be the same case.

The reason they put Yoshi-P in the directorial position is because he was basically the only one who volunteered. It was career suicide if the game didn't pull around, and S-E was desperate.

Technically, yes both Cata and ARR destroyed the world with big fark-off dragons, and both worlds were irrevocably changed, gameplay mechanics were altered, that sort of thing. The big difference is that Bahamut wrecked Eorzea so hard we woke up five years later with no memory of how we got there :D

Well remember, he hadn't actually played FFXIV before that point, so his only real experience was with WoW. Maybe it got old, but he had WoW and Blizzard on the brain, and years of pent up frustration to vent. I personally don't mind the complaining because being comedic about it, and it's his brand. It hurts to drop a game you loved, only to find an alternative that does things differently and enjoy it.
