You don't often get to see what the final minutes of an MMO look like, but when Naoki Yoshida made the call to take down 1.0 to build ARR Legacy players got the chance to be a part of FF14 History.

Hello! Your video popped up in my feed and decided to check it out! I always enjoy watching people react to the 1.0 trailer. I am a Legacy player and since you were asking about the experience, I'll try to give a brief explanation. Played practically all of 1.0 and was part of smaller guild. I was there up until the shutdown. Since I was on one of the heavy pop servers (Hyperion) it was very difficult to stay logged in because of huge server loads. The devs actually spawned big monsters in and outside the 3 major cities. I fought a few of them in between disconnects. There were also Garlean soldiers spawned in Carteneau and surrounding areas. The patches leading up to the end, we noticed a red dot in the sky that was brighter, and with every patch it became bigger till the point you see it in the video. The announcement of ARR I believe was about a month before servers shutdown. It was quite surreal to be part of the end and though we knew SE was going to release 2.0 it was bittersweet. Everytime I watch this trailer or hear the song "Answers" (music in the trailer) I get teary-eyed. Louisoix was an interactable NPC in 1.0 and we got to know him a bit, which makes his sacrifice at the end, all the more heartening.

I was a 1.0 player as well and forgot to log in for this LOL. I was never far along as I had a hard time getting into the game but kept my sub going anyway so now I enjoy that legacy status.
To answer some of your questions, the Empire is still fighting the Alliance because the Empire are the ones that brought Dalamund down in the first place. They thought that there was some great weapon housed within it and sought to use it against Eorzea, instead they unleashed the Primal God Bahamut. The old man who puts up the shield is the leader of the Scions Louisoix, Alphinaud and Alisaie's grandfather. And yes, you can fight the dragon. The raid series The Binding Coils of Bahamut will tell you aaaaalll about the civilization of Allag, Bahamut, and what Louisoix did. Enjoy your journeys in Eorzea, the ride is amazing.

@@Tonnicc I'm happy I could help! Louisoix was also pretty much your direct mentor in 1.0, and actually teleported you like he does the Warriors of Light in the trailer. The Binding Coils is a super fun raid series, if you run them synced the fights are still really challenging and the story payoffs are awesome.

@@Tonnicc it will serve you well going forward. And don't worry, as the expansions progress you'll get more and more voiced dialog. The budget was pretty tight in the early days of XIV, and voice acting was easy to cut.

@@Tonnicc fortunatelly there is not the New Game + feature that allows you to replay chapters of the story again without the need to make a new character ... you gen do at least the MSQ in that mode ... so its something to look up if you want to go back and relive the story.
I still can't believe this was technically a live event
The GMs were also spawning all the strongest Monsters in every zone while the giant red ball was showing up in the sky

Jeah that was actually the Birth of the Gobbue Knights. Some players riding on Gobbue was trying to kill these Monsters. Also that is the Reason why Legacy Player got a special Gobbue Mount when they return to 2.0 its a great Honor from the Devs
I was playing FFXI when this happened. A lot of my friends started FFXIV and left ffxi but then came back after they found out it was bad and bounced back and forth. I wish i had done what they did. Now they have all the cool legacy stuff and have the memories of this event. But now i am in FFXIV and loving every moment. I get to play with them again when server travel goes live. I know it might be delayed but worth the wait to see them again.
yes you can fight the dragon... it's the Binding Coil raid series

It is difficult content if you plan on doing that raid “properly.” If not, a level 80 can help you clear it for the extra story. The completion of the Binding Coils will also unlock some minor extra conversations with some NPCs later down the line. I won’t elaborate further to avoid spoilers.
To answer the question at 8:30 The in-game events from the end of 1.0 to the beginning of 2.0 was 5 years. The ACTUAL timeframe from the 1.0 shutdown to the 2.0 release was almost a year (November 11th, 2012 - August 27th, 2013). The devs were developing 2.0 WHILE they were patching the 1.0 version. I'd recommend watching the Fall and Rise videos from Speakers Network; it goes in depth as to what the problems were with 1.x and how it's recovered since
Its just AWESOME to see all these content creators enjoying the game! Endwalker is just gonna KICK BUTT! :D
If you plan to run coils dont watch flames of truth. Just remember coils are a bit difficult to run due to it not being part of roulette.
I have watched this video exactly 32 times I started in August and I just to heavensward

Bruh the ending of Heavensward had the same vibes as the ending of 1.0 with Shinryu manifesting
Game took 3 years to make into ARR and a 5 year time gap in the story
Like, hella late, but I figured I'd drop a comment regardless. I couldn't finish your video, truth be told. xD And I hope you take this to heart if you continue to play other games and react to other things. We don't need a play-by-play commentary. Seriously. You don't need to narrate everything! This community (if you haven't noticed already) loves watching folks react to those big story moments. This being one. It'd honestly would have been more fun if you just.. Watch and absorbed and leave the in depth musing and overall thoughts till the end. Or at least pause it while doing so. Most of us have seen this video before-even new folks who haven't seen it wont immediately watch a reaction video first. They'll see the original source then click these types of videos at the very least. You're basically trying too hard to fill the silence when it's okay to be so. Again, very late comment considering how old your video is, but in case you continue to post videos I wanted to give you some feed back. :)
Look up FF 1.0 in a nutshell video and react to that
You don't seem all that emotional about that cinematic. Imagine you were playing the game for years and knew an upcoming Calamity and game shutting down. Instead of just saying Server down you get this epic cinematic on how it ends.
This unfortunately feels like a sports commentator at an opera. It's entirely too much commentary and just relaying the visuals in word form. It didn't feel like there was much of an actual reaction.
Ugh. Completely unemotional reaction, talked the whole way through and didn't even let the scenes sink in. Waste of time for a video.
