    One of the early proponents of the fartlek session, Emil Zatopek, used to hold his breath and challenge himself to see how far he could run before inhaling. Insanity.

    @hednersgame911 I think it depends on body chemistry. When I ran track in high school and junior college the "vomiters" were usually athletes who already vomited in previous practices whereas I never had a workout that made me feel ill even though I was a 400/800/miler (a not very good one).

    We usually have tap out Tuesday’s instead of workout Wednesday’s and the name comes from the workout being so hard you want to tap out and quit but Tuesday’s are literally the only days you are not allowed to quit xc. Like Tuesday’s are the only times I have cried while running

    Well you don’t automatically get that good and run fast, you have to progress there. Start off with a very short 1 mile run and go a pace that’s comfortable for you that you can maintain without stopping and build up your mileage from there.

    Hi Grace, I'm assuming they're distance runners...generally very skinny up top. Sprinters on the other hand have great physiques.

    "Whoops." Fartlek is speed-play, not intervals. Looks like a great breakdown of a workout ("This is FUN!"), but the surge (of a true fartlek) is missing -- that's a miracle 5 seconds or so.

    Those skinny guys are still stronger than the women. What you think looks powerful is actually a higher body fat percentage of the women, not bigger muscles.

    Women biologically hold more body fat. Men's testosterone lets them cut to very low body fat. Women just can't get under 10% due to hormones. These girls look healthier because they have more fat. The guys are ultra competitive and have cut as much fat as they can safely cut. Looks as some professional distance running women who are illegally using hormone blockers and they look more like the men.
