ROLL Recovery - Emma Coburn - Home Town Hero

Спорт

Not even Emma Coburn, the 2017 IAAF World Champion steeplechaser, is immune to race day nerves. How did an anxious, small town athlete become a world champion? We caught up with Emma Coburn in her home town of Crested Butte, Colorado to get a glimpse of her life after winning Gold and why starting the Elk Run 5k is so important to her.

Watching Emma on KZread sparked an old fire inside me. I ran track from the 6 grade on. After my Father died when I was 7 years old running was my therapy. Sadly I never was good enough to go past high school like millions of average people who have a history of competition. I see my dreams fulfilled through you. Congratulations and Thank you very much for the memories. Don’t make my mistake NEVER STOP RUNNING. 👍🏻🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

I'm not even a "runner"; I'm a huge football fan. But I'm a fan of Emma. Like a gazelle, she is "art in motion" when she's running. She has a mind of steel, yet she's compassionate and passionate. Her parents MUST be so proud of her. But even more important than even her accomplishments on the track is her compassion for others. I wish her and her husband, Joe, and family all the best.

Just saw this today August 1, 2022. At 59 and a former top Athlete I got teared up watching her win and how excited her family was. A true inspiration. My son who turned 20 yesterday had all senior year sports cancelled being a 2020 high school graduate so he turned to weight training and physique competition and just won both of the Northeast divisions in the teen group. I sent this video to him to give him more motivation and continue as a champion on and off the field as Emma is. God Bless her.

First of all, thank Aric Van Halan for the great phone video at the beginning of this video. But all of us flatlanders dream about having the altitude training that Emma has built in from her very birth. She is so well-trained and methodical you almost know what the race will look like before it happens. One thing I remember clearly when she and Cort passed the leader and finished 1-2. The US had never won a medal in the steeple up to that point in Olympic or World Championship competition. They finished with Gold and Silver, America's first Steeple medals ever. So, scream and jump up and down all you want sis. She earned it!

I love when ppl appreciate and admire the greatness that exists right beneath them. It requires introspection, humility, and empathy to find contentment. Emma seems to have contentment. That doesn't mean complacency or lack of motivation.... it means you can take satisfaction away from what you are currently doing or what you feel your purpose is. Its beautiful and inspiring.

This company makes some of the most professionally produced, yet still GENUINE, mini-sports documentaries I've ever seen. You would never know these are essentially paid, sponsor films because they don't really spend time hyping/pushing their product on camera... or like some companies, make their athletes read cringie scripts gushing about the advertiser. Heck, did they even show their product in this Emma Coburn film? In the 2-part OAC docu they briefly show it being used, but there's no dialog or discussion. Just shows athletes going about their daily routines & briefly using this unusual massage/muscle roller thingy I'd never seen before. It's all very understated & elegant, but the strategy works. It got me curious. Who/what is ROLL Recovery? What do they make? Is the product effective? So I went digging... ended up buying an R8 Plus since my calves, quads, and IT-band are always sore & stiff following my long runs.

She is a phenomenal runner. I would say she's a machine, but her grace and fluidity render her too smooth. When you watch her run there is little if any wasted motion or movement. When she kicks, it's like a benediction from above. Absolutely love her brilliance. The fact she's an incredible human being is the lake of icing.
