As a European who sometimes attempts to solve some of the NYT games I feel like I'd benefit if I had a bit more context of the culture in the States. Today I stumbled badly with the sausage category in Connections.

Link is the only term of the four that is in use in UK. Bangers , Cumberland sausages and Lincolnshire sausages would be understood here.

Good job on Connections! It was tough for me today! I got it but I wasted a couple of guesses. I had no idea about golf clubs and kept thinking it was tools for a car 😅

Oddly . although Stilton gave its name to the cheese , the village is now in part of Cambridgeshire and officially Stilton cheese has to be made within the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire to have protected designation. Cheddar gave its name to the process of cheddaring , which is the method of making Dunlop cheese in Scotland. A dairymaid from Cheddar was brought up to Ayrshire to give the farmers instruction.

Wow. This is fascinating. Thanks for sharing this little history lesson. I worked as a cheesemonger in the US for 8 years and I knew about cheddaring, but I didn't know all that history. Very cool!

Wordle a 4. Connections a disaster just got the golf clubs. I realised it was sausages and one thing after another but couldnt sort the categories out. Strands and MIni straightforward.

They are 100% coming up with new cheeses all the time. Not really new categories or styles of cheese, but new creameries (cheese production places) come up and make their own spin on a classic. Then they might make new versions of the same thing. Like that cheese plus herbs, for example. Also, Stilton is a robust, earthy, and delicious blue cheese.

Stilton is very smelly. I got a big wheel of it as a present once and my wife made me keep it in the garage 🙂

A whole wheel of Stilton like like ~60 pounds. I would have made you keep it in the garage too. I know they sometimes make smaller versions of it though.

Also, this reminds me of Skyrim. All the cheese in that game seem modeled after English cheeses and the blue cheese in that game looks exactly like Stilton.

@@AsuraSantosha it wasn't a whole wheel if that's how big they are. Wow! But it was wheel shaped and I guess weighed maybe 2 or 3 kilos so perhaps 5lb or so. Came in a presentation wooden box with a vintage bottle of port !

I was OK in Wordle/Strands.. I often have my ONE AWAY issues with Connectiions. Poltergeist was my favorite horror movie/the first one. I never heard of THE RING and never saw THE FOG.

Stilton cheese in my opinion is horrible. Chedder is a village in Somerset in England and famous for its cheese and underground caves. Also not forgetting it’s cider

⬛🟨🟨⬛⬛PECAN ⬛⬛🟩🟩🟨SLICE 🟩⬛🟩🟩🟩EVICT 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩EDICT I, like you, am shocked that the "sausages" category was the purple. I felt for sure the one with the horror movies was the purple but it was not lol I was trying to get the purple first and failed 😅 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩 I had no clue that cheddar was named after an English village! I love how much I learn from these games. I struggled a bit with the Mini today; took me 5:55. stilton is a kind of blue cheese and it's delicious! 😋 For Strands today, I also put in Motown first and was disappointed LOL I then kept singing "I love the nightlife, I love to boogie" the entire time I was solving the puzzle. I'm a dork 😂🤓 🔵🟡🔵🔵 🔵🔵🔵 thanks for the video, Kenny! 😃
