Nice work. I was cringing when you were using your scraper though. You should put the handle under you forearm , and the same hand over the top of the scraper. More control and much safer.

What species of ash is it? Looks nothing like the ash in my neck of the woods

I use a lathe from Axminster Tools and it works a treat! The exact model is in the description :)

I have got the Axminster 406 it a fantastic lathe.

What are you saying can only be done on ash? Sho sugi ban can be done on nearly any wood species. And the embellishment wax can be done on any open grain wood like white oak, and even tight grain wood like sycamore and Maple.

You are right. Some of these posters like to over embellish their descriptions to get attention. I have used this technique on red oak, white oak and even fir, pine and red cedar.

Why did you take a blank cut to have a nice live edge, and turn it upside down and turn off the live edge? The finished piece looks nice. But you didn’t need a live edged blank to do this….
