Beautiful bowl, the ring idea is brilliant! Slowing down the videos would give us viewers a chance to see you flying in and out of the shop phone booth for those lightning fast shirt changes...
Beautiful work, Guil! That is some pretty wood and seeing that rim ring piece pop with all that curl was an extra surprise! 👍👍👍👍
It's quite a wonderful piece! Thank you for making it. It was a joy to watch!
I like it!

Looks good, Guil. The birdseye is amazing! Billy
Beautiful piece of wood and great shape and colours with fabulous inclusions Not sure about the addition of the ring. Better with a natural opening? Great video, thank you for sharing
Классная работа.
It is a beautiful piece by the way!
Interesting inserting a ring like that ! i would have never thought of that , very nice job again !
Nice piece! Adding the ring was an interesting idea.
Very pretty Birdseye, love your work. 💖🥰
Really cool interesting piece...very artistic form! Nice hair cut 😎👍
Gorgeous turn Guil. And your hair turned out good.
An exquisite piece, love the colors!! Wonder what would have happened if you had done clear epoxy and created the bowl but not at all disapointed!! It is absolutely beautiful!! Can't wait for the next piece of that!! Stay safe and well!
Incredible piece. I really enjoy your work. I have seen another woodturner, Phil Anderson at Shady Acers Woodshop use a tool called a Sand-o-Flex, I think you would really appreciate it. I suggest it because you do so many 'natural edge' type pieces. Anyway, love your channel!

Sure that’s Cypress Pine. The bark and color look like Western Red Cedar. Either way the end result is awesome. Keep up the nice work.
Bloody aweswome job Guil, I love it. How are you and and family doing with the Isolation? I guess it's not been too bad for us makers as we usually do projects by ourselves, and where in the unique position where we are used being alone working on something for long periods of time. With a new bub, how are you guys finding it? I can only imagine it's inconvenient when supplies run out, and with the recent restrictions on purchasing items it would be hard in that respect. For us, it's not changed much, apart from the kids being home, and doing school work at home, and it looks like it will be the same for the next term as well, at least down here. Only other thing is we usually bulk buy grocery items as we're out in the country, and the restrictions mean we have to go into town more often. Overall, though, I hope you guys remain safe and healthy, and don't go stir crazy.

There's another technique I've seen Cy the DIY Guy do many videos ago to dry out hollow forms at least a bit, with the piece mounted on the lathe, tip Metho/Denatured Alcohol inside the vessel, then let it spin to force the Metho into the wood and in turn dry out the moisture. Pretty sure it needs to spin fast enough to force the Metho into the grain, and I guess the amount of time and Metho used depends on the timber and how wet it is. I think the idea was to get the surface inside starting to dry to help stop cracking for the start of the drying process, I'm not sure, maybe ask Cy. kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6yrqrKBoNeap9Y.html
I'm enjoying watching your work. How long have you been woodturning?
Guil You did a great job also your almost at 10k just a little more and you'll be there and when you hit that your channel is going to grow like wild fire anyway good luck and God bless you and your family.

Thank you yes nilly there
Not me being wet, the wood being wet. *Sigh*. Lol
There are lovely colours in that wood...interesting grain too...My question is what is a hollow form and what it different to a bowl or a vase? I gues that might be 2 questions...a pity about the bark though...it is a pretty wood with those colours coming beautifully...cool result
With the divet on the side, maybe resin? Also make it so it shows on the inside too? Thank you for doing these I learn a lot!
To resin or not to resin, good decision no resin very well turned my good man
When you turn a wet piece of wood does it always come out that smooth that great or what’s the worst it’s been
Like you, I've never turned wet/green wood. What considerations have you given to drying or cracking?
Hey champ a few videos back u made coffee travel mugs, just wondering where you picked up the inserts n how much. Cheers champ keep on keeping on 👍👍

Psquared I'm not sure of the actual web address but just put that in google
That wood has nice colors and grain movement. Do you chip off most of the bark so they don't fly off and hit you whilst turning?
Wondering what your sharpening process is like? Do you freehand or use a jig? Do you use a CBN wheel or a traditional one?
Brilliant work, Guil! You got a heap of shavings off that. What do you do with the shavings? Do you throw them in the bin or do they go on the garden?
Hey Guil. When you do your resin stuff what do you use? A lot of non Aussie KZread turners use total boat or alumilite etc. I’m an Aussie myself and would like to start some resin projects myself!
Looking good Guil. Q. How are things going with your gallery/retail shop? Haven't heard anything about it in a long while. Have a good 1- Dave.
Is it easier to turn a wet piece of wood that a dry wood
Which epoxy do use and where you get it? I’m guessing online 'cos Bunnies has jack...
Guil, Yes, indeed that is an incredible piece pf cypress! I was wondering if you would consider slowing down your videos a bit. Most everyone does use fast forward some of the time but honestly, I get a little nauseated watching your at times. I want to see what you are doing more closely and at a slower pace. Sure, fast forward through sanding, and maybe up to five times normal speed. And from time to time, come back to normal speed and tell us more about what you are doing and why, for example, the tools you're going to be using and finishes used. You can be so comical sometimes, and I want to enjoy that as well. Just my thoughts. Cheers, Paige C.
Nice piece bud, really turned out great. Is that a piece from a local tree cut down? Or do you have a source for wood? We recently had several tornados near where I live and every turner in town has been scouring the neighborhoods for good materiel before the city picks them up

Locally sourced
Is it the same as cypress here in the USA? Pretty wood but I'm allergic to it!
Do the wood turners talk to each other and everyone do the same thing?? A few of the turners are turning wet wood this week is why I ask :) Stay safe!!!! Enjoyed your video and gave it a Thumbs Up
Bit of a blow out there!

My question is why you do not core some of your bowls
@DiemenDesign
4 жыл бұрын
I don't think Guil has a Bowl Corer on hand.
Is that a hard wood or soft
@GuilTheBeardedWoodworker
4 жыл бұрын
Relatively soft wood
Why doesn't most tuners cut cores when making bowls. Even when it's beautiful wood?
@JensWoodworkingThings
4 жыл бұрын
I know I don't because a bowl saver/corer is an expensive tool I cannot afford.
Good content. you're so friendly. also, i want to be youtube friends xP

That looks pretty greekish
I see you finished your haircut Guil from the last video. How long did you spend to complete this turning? Also, is it harder or easier to turn wet wood compared to dry wood? It's amazing that from that large pice of cypress you created this beautiful hollow form. As the wood dries even with the linseed oil will the colors darken? I hope you and yours are healthy and safe and I look forward to your next episode. I'm being awesome here in Tennessee and cheers!❤️👍😷🍻✌️

Was about to give you a thumbs up when you told me to stay safe. Came to watch some wood turning, not to listen to more bullsh*t propaganda
Sorry, but try to understand such a simple idea - your talk is not interesting for people, for people it’s interesting what and how you do it.
