Stunning piece, the bowl did come out amazingly. It's cold too in the UK, and damp. So I just watched this under an electric blanket while fending off my food obsessed elderly cat who wanted my snacks.

Can't get over how stunning the bowl/glass turned out! Always amazed by the Bob Ross "Happy Accidents" that happens to skilled artisans. What I wanted to comment on was the stem/base. At first I thought it would look better with a darker wood - mahogany or dark cherry. But after looking at the finished piece, it struck me how much it resembles the texture of cork! So the color and texture will carry though the project. Nice thinking, Jim!! (Good luck with the tractor. Don't let it run over you!!)

Now that you mention it, it actually does look like cork! Thanks for watching!

Happy accidents are what happens when you look at problems as opportunities for creative solutions instead of blockades. There's always a way around something, and an artistic piece always turns out so much better if the problems you encounter along the way are used to make it even better! I've started working with a medium that's pretty much all about that! Most of what you're doing is gluing decorative pieces on to hide the imperfections on the egg. My decorative eggs have gotten really stunning and even when I go over what something was added to cover over, people just keep looking at the piece and going, "Man, I can't imagine this thing without that! It's too pretty!"
Today I caught myself watching your videos instead of in the shop turning my stuff!!

How brilliant that you follow through on all the challenges your wife sets for you - and create something so impressive that you end up getting fond of it yourself 😁 I love the colours in this piece, Jim, as well as the style. As I don't drink, if I was being well behaved I would fill it with nuts or fruit... but if not so well-behaved then that is the best candy bowl (or sweet bowl in the UK) that I could have in my home 🙄 Congrats on the 80k and nice to see the subscriptions climbing up every day.

If you made another one with a shorter stem, that would make a beautiful candy dish or cookie serving dish. Your choice of colors are great together. The way they swirled together are super nice. Wonderful work.

Well this project took my breath away from beginning to end. I can hear the excitement in your voice as you worked on this and at almost 0200 hours I'm like a kid at Christmas sneaking around the tree shaking the boxes and can't wait til morning. Congrats on the 80k~! You deserve every subscriber! This piece made me speechless. That epoxy really cured up clear, despite the logical conclusion that it would at least fracture. I saw the thumbnail and thought: Wow, this is the Goblet of Fire from Harry Potter! Or is it a wine glass from Asgard? What a great piece of art! I don´t drink wine but I would put this little LED fairy lights inside for effect. That would be a spectacular eyecatcher. I´m officially in LOVE... with a wine glass. LOL. 🤭 There´s a first time for everything, they say. 😉

Because rice is a solid and not a liquid, you need to account for the air voids the rice has. More unyielding surface area (like the bowls) equals a less tight pack and more void areas, so your rice volume will be lower in the measuring container where the rice can settle more. Oops...It did sound like a good theory! Absolutely amazing project! I usually hate comically-large kitchen utensils and dishes, but this is really beautifully done and not for the comedic value of making it a large glass! I love the way the colors play together in the amazingly clear resin. I wasn't such a fan of it until you got it all nice and shined up and now it looks so amazing! I do agree that bringing the colors into the wood really helps bring the piece together. Happy accident!
