Woodturning - I've been turning since 1999 and became a full time turner in 2012 after serving 24 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. I'm known for my inlay/resin production work which makes me unique in the woodturning community.
My main source of wood comes from reclaimed logs and burls.
Some of the items I will cover on my channel include one of a kind inlayed bowls, epoxy and wood bowls, pepper and salt mills, cutting/serving boards including epoxy and other related wood turned items.

So sorry about your knee(s) - I've been off my feet for about 3 weeks with a left knee issue (because it takes forever to get an appointment with an orthopedist), so I get it. I hope you take the time and rest you need! ❤
Hi, Jim, I do not know the distinction between what you refer to as a "hollow form" versus what you refer to as a "vase." Can you mention the answer on one of your videos, please. I love the colors and the contrast and all the different shapes that the various wood elements show. Since you asked about what we like, I generally do not like a shape where the top is bulky or as wide as the body of the piece. I prefer a more graceful shape. This piece, for my personal taste, is pushing the limit on that. But, it's yours, and it is beautiful. Have you ever tried taller, narrower pieces? Or are those not suitable for a lathe? OK, now you've trimmed the top more, and I like it even better!! Great work!!
I agree, you need to take care of yourself first. Great color combination on this one. As always, your work is amazing. I enjoy the long videos, so no worries about the time:)
Have you ever used a twisted catalpa hardwood for turning? There is a tree in Springfield, MO, where I live that we named Twisted Sister. I've always thought that one of your beautiful vases in deep green and gold would look amazing with it.
Enjoyed another spectacular show. Simple love the artwork. Hope your knees feel better for you. I know. The feeling. If by chance you can not do a turning, maybe you could do a voiceover of the many pieces of art you have made. Rest the leg and still give an awesome show.. best wishes to you.
Magnificent piece
Designer Epoxy is great stuff
Beautiful vase!!! You've maybe already gotten this tip about eliminating those straight lines in the pieces, but perhaps round them off on the belt sander to create a faux live edge?!? As always, love the designer epoxy products!
I love the shape!
The burl and color in that Designer Epoxy are awesome, but that branch just adds so much interesting character! Great shape too 👌
So beautiful fantastic job
As always your work is beautiful.
Designer Epoxy-Nice piece Jim.
This sounds bad but how about an urn purple with some hyper shift or the sliver
Take care Jim. Designer epoxy
Designer epoxy - this is a very cool scrap wood+ project. Nice way to use those cool little pieces that get cut off. That straight edge is a problem in a project like this. If this were me, I probably would have parted it right at the top of the straight line then use what I parted off for a tight lid after flipping the whole project over. But that's what I would have done, not you. Regardless, a cool project. Heal up nicely and thanks for the good work
A beautiful vase! It reminds me of a cross between a Grecian urn and an asteroid field. Don't let the algorithm rule your life, if you need some personal time or time to heal -take it. We will be here.
Wow what an awesome vase.
Thank you! Cheers!

Love this piece ❤
Thanks so much!
Beautiful piece as always Jim, a lot of resin and very nice colors. Designer epoxy
Thank you very much!
Such an awesome piece
Thanks so much!
Your work is amazing ❤
Thank you so much 😀
I had an idea, albeit a strange one, for a spacer in the center of pieces to save resin, separate top and bottom pieces, etc. Couldn't you use the plastic tubs that margarine, potato salad, deli items, come in. Fill the tub with rice to prevent collapse, put the lid on it, and stick it in the middle of the piece? You'd lose the tub when you hollow the piece, but it didnt cost anything, so not a big issue. Might hold up better than plastic bags.
You and your family are more important than any of this! Love, us all!!!😊
You're the best! Thanks so much!
Really interesting and very informative. Thanks for this.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Beautiful piece . Great job ❤
Thank you! Cheers!

Absolutely beautiful finished piece ❤ and I loved seeing Catalpa used. That tree species has a special place in my heart, as there were three Catalpas around my grandparents farmhouse. The biggest of which a favourite place to play in and under as a little kid.
The bird you asked about is most likely a gray catbird, according to my Merlin app which can ID burds by their call.
Jim, I wish you the best. Your project this week was beautiful . Take care! Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
Designer Epoxy... take care of yourself... love that you show that things dont go as planned but there are ways around that. Keep turning.
Thanks, will do!
Magnifique! I love watching your videos and learn so much from them. Your narrative is spot on and just enough to be helpful. Bless you, brother. Levis
Designer Epoxy Nice
Beauty! Designer Epoxy

Long hours? Punky wood? Frustration setting in? Sprague Woodturning is contemplating opening an associated business venture: Epoxy Shavings Neck Massage and Knee Therapy Spa!! Yes, the answer all of us woodworkers of a certain age have been requesting. Free use of spittoons for all premium customers! And it recycles! Wonderful work once again, Jim. Thank you for bearing with all of the discomfort for our sake.
Stunning 🥰🥰
Why are some shiny and some matt?
OMG it is beautiful, I love it. But please take care of yourself. Your priorities should begin with your health.
Very nice Jim: Nothing like using up the bits and pieces to create a masterpiece. It is a busy collection and it looks good. that one area with looks like a dogs foot print. Around 40:29. At least I think so. You give good info on how to get around some of the difficulties when turning. Colour is beautiful to see. Take care and stay safe. PS: My knees are shot too. E-mail coming to you.
excellent job! maybe just a small /simple piece for a change to keep you off your feet? Wishing you healthy knees! Going to be just outside of Bouctouche along Dixon Point next weekend to help with a family construction project. Hopeing you get your house sold so you can start yours. Designer epoxy
Another fine example of both your creativity in design and your resourcefulness in overcoming obstacles, Jim. A truly beautiful piece. Meanwhile, I also appreciate your comment about "mileage" and your decision to put your health first. Taking care of yourself now will pay off handsomely later. Besides, your creations and your videos are well worth the wait! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
I’m getting my shop set up soon and hoping to start working with some resin castings soon. I’ve learned a lot from just watching these so cheers to the future! Designer Epoxy
Jim can you do more combo resin pieces? In particular I loved the peacock bowl(s). But I haven’t seen you do one of these in a while. Thanks
I don't get why people are so against the voice over, I think it's quite important, and this isn't an ASMR channel >.> Fantastic work as always! Get some rest and hopefully you'll be good to get back to work soon - just don't rush it! We'll be still here.
Absolutely fantastic, very nice work! Well done
Jim, you are appreciated, take time for you. Love the piece Designer Epoxy looks great.
Your health comes first, then the bucket struggle. If you cannot make a video, how about doing a live where you take questions and answer them??? I believe its called a live event or something like that. Anyways Jim great video as always and looking forward to your next one. I wish you a speedy recovery. Oh yeah, i would like to see you turn a globe lided bowl where the continents look similar to an actual globe lol
