Beautiful piece, Jim. I think I preferred it taller. Reminded me of a dessert my grandmother always made for the holidays which was topped with whipped cream and cherries. It's weird what will set off the algorithms. A 2 part video I did contained the word "refurbishing" in the titles and it (until recently) far outpaced the others I'd done.

I had the same thought of food. A Black Forest cake. Lol.
I agree that cutting off the top of the original bowl was the way to go. The mother of pearl was overpowering and needed to be subdued, which the removal of the top inch accomplished. The globes remind me of maraschino cherries and definitely add interest to the bowl. It ended up being a very nice bowl.

Jim, I can’t stop thinking that “life is just a bowl of cherries” at this point in your KZread journey. Stunning piece! The mother of pearl is just awesome with the wood, and this little globes are so great in this composition. Congrats to the lucky winner! I think you did right to cut off that ring. Maybe you can put LEDs around the backside of the resin ring and do a lamp with it - insert it with the LEDs in a piece of walnut or something like that. It would look absolutely wonderful! Just love your work! You have the feeling for the fine details and the ratio between wood and colour. Very, very nice bowl!

Before you cut the bowl down, I saw a big bowl of whipped cream with fruit mixed in. 🤣 I like the cut down version you decided on in the end better because it now highlights those beautiful orbs.
