Keeping it simple and allowing the figure of the wood to speak for itself, was the way to go, Lisa. Well done! 👍

Missed you dear, and missed the Beagle. Those turned out really stunning. Simple is sometimes much better than elaborate. Great job Lisa.

@LisaRamlow I get ya, girl! Our house is a reconstruction zone, and the hubby is remodeling the house! It needs it. It was built in 1940, and everything is crooked, lol. Haven't touched my lathe in months. I miss it.
Love, Love, Love burls. You did a super job with the finish on these.

That's a fine bowl, Lisa! I want to start incorporating more detail in my bowls and that looks like one of Richard's books I haven't read. Working on two, right now. But I think simple was the right call with such interesting wood. I was going to say that any time I've cast a resin project and left it too long it gets chippy. I try to turn my resin within four months of casting, but we all make plans that sometimes get postponed. Beautiful set.

Hey Jay! Yeah, I had no intention of it being over a year before I finished the big one, but because the resin didn’t go to the top it meant I had to do more than just turn it and that kept pushing it to the bottom of the list. The 5-minute epoxy worked out fine so that’s good to know for next time.
A work of art.

Great book you're referring to there. I have that one at used it so much in the shop that the pages started falling out. I then proceeded to take all the pages out and put them in protective sleeves and put them in a notebook. It's handier that way because I can take just the page I need to the lathe. I've never turned a burl yet but hope to someday. Wow! The beauty really comes out after you put the finish on. Nice salvage!

Thanks Greg! I’m planning to copy the profile templates and maybe blow them up a bit so I can put them on the wall behind the lathe

@@LisaRamlow You won't believe what I did. I actually used my calipers and measured each bowl shape in the book and redrew all of them in AutoCAD. So when I have a roughed blank, I see which shape best matches the proportions and scale the CAD-drawn bowl up or down to suit. I usually do them in batches and do this when I get back in the house near the computer. Maybe someday I'll have an office in my shop. 😄It's an invaluable book Richard made.
The resin color was perfect for the bowl.
