Woodturning: Leaves on Ambrosia Maple

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This large chunk of ambrosia maple came from a tree in my backyard, that we took down just recently. It turned out to have beautiful ambrosia markings in it. After I rough turn it, dry it, then finish turn it, I burn some maple leaf outlines on it, and then color them in fall colors.

Wow! This might be the very best video you have ever produced. Camera angles, I learned so much how the tool should be addressed to the wood. Definitely will be saving this video to review many times again. And that bowl is awesome. Well done 👏👏👏

Hi, Huw. I used several alcohol dyes from Trans-sol on this bowl. They work well, but they only come in five colors - black, brown, blue, red, and yellow. They also come in a powder and have to be mixed every time, which is a bit of a nuisance. I may switch to a premixed alcohol color set.
