Wood Cutting Board Care with Oil & Wax - NEW JOHN BOOS BLOCKS
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I bought a new John Boos Blocks cutting board, which will be the center-point of our United Cuisines studio going forward. In this video, I am unboxing this huge chopping board that has a nice cherry wood color.
Moreover, I learned how to apply food-grade oil (Boos Mystery Oil) and board cream (Boos Beeswax) to this awesome butcher's board. It's important to take good care and maintain your chopping board well, in order for its color to pop nicely.

I don't use paper towels to spread the wax on my chopping board anymore, but rather a microfiber cloth. Esp. cheaper paper towels begin to rip and fall apart, leaving lint behind on the wood. I find a clean, dry microfiber cloth is a good alternative for waxing this huge Boos Block.

I agree..I use a soft cloth…better than paper towels not to mention I can’t stand that sound!!

Have you tried their oil/cream applicator?

@@yourerightimwrong4567 no, I was too cheap for that 😅 Can you recommend it?

@UnitedCuisines Hahaha! I actually do! I decided to purchase the one from Clark's because it had a bigger surface area and the construction seemed the same.
That was great thank you🎶💕
If that was my board, I’d have sent it straight back for a replacement.
Excited for more content ✨
Do I need to re-oiling the board every time after washed? I am afraid I eat too much the oil and wax. Lol
For the cost I’m shocked that they left wormholes in that board. I’d never put chicken on mine but people do and you’d be risking bacteria getting into those holes.

I was disappointed, too. But after applying the wax, those holes seem to be closed.

@UnitedCuisines That's what I would have suggested, filling them in with bees wax, then you're good to go !
Does it safe for food ? What kind of smell is that ?
@UnitedCuisines
Жыл бұрын
Yes, of course, it's food-grade oil and wax. Smell is neutral, I didn't smell anything.

@@UnitedCuisines thanks I'm very sensitive, how to use ? Do you need to sanding this after you put ? , how much time to dry ?
@UnitedCuisines

I am not sanding my board. Only put oil and let dry overnight, 5-8 hours. You can use this applicator: amzn.to/3mHC357
This looks so much smaller than 24 inches, closer to 20?

Indeed. Maybe because I didn t put any items on the board in the video? It s def 24x18inches though :))
What size is the board?

24” (61cm)
I hope Boos Block replaced that board for you.... those holes would be worrisome to me for the integrity of the word and potential bacteria. Plus, I would only use one side of the board ... the side without the holes.

There's no need to replace it. Filling them in with bees wax does the trick, and it seems that was done.
