First time watching this channel, & I have to say... it's fantastic to have an ex professional speaking their mind about the sport. Great to hear an intelligent opinion without all this pandering to modern nonsense. I was a big fan of Joey in his playing days, but whether you love him or hate him, you've got to respect him for having the guts to give his honest educated opinion. Keep up the good work!

So is Shearer. So is Danny Murphy. So is Martin Keone. In fact, I watched Sky sports live reporting the other night and the best, by far, was Stuart Broad, cricketer. Barton can't get passed the fact that women are doing this job.

Keown. Women have never played in the men’s game so how can they give you any insight into it. Stuart Broad would not be hired to give punditry on rugby or football. They once hired Michael Vaughan to do golf and he was eventually sacked because he was useless.

@@jimmycampbell78 okay let me give you a few names: David Coleman, Hugh Johns, Alan Weeks, John Motson, Alan Parry, Martin Tyler. None of them played and yet are and were amongst the most celebrated commentators. Furthermore some of the pundits, Shearer, Murphy, for example, say nothing you couldn't say yourself. And finally, Stuart Broad was a guest pundit a few weeks ago, watching a Nottingham Forest cup match from the Sky studio. He was far and away the best pundit. Why? Because he's intelligent and articulate. He explained what was going on with clarity and with wit. Most football pundits are inarticulate and uneducated. Viewers are just used to them, and don't like women because they are infiltrating the men's domain. It's a bit sad really. Some of them are just as good as the men.

@@neilprocter We were talking about pundits, who provide co-commentary and studio analysis. You have moved the goalposts as it were to talk about the main commentators. All those male names you mentioned are /were main commentators. The co commentator has usually always been a male ex player who provides the insight, and this is the pundit role on commentary. The main commentators have usually been trained journalists. Barton made his remarks only about female PUNDITS, not about main commentators, as did I. The reason you have male pundits is because they have played at that level. You don't have male pundits who were ex-players only at say Conference or League 1 level talking about men's Premier League games. They hire men who played men's PL and CL, who know that level of football. Broad was a guest pundit and I was unaware of this one-off appearance. I was talking about regular pundits. Pointing out articulate he was compared to usual pundits is unrelated to the topic we are discussing. But these days, I suppose class snobbery is still more acceptable than supposed misogyny.

A videogame still exists though, it was created by artists and whoever plays it experiences the same thing with minor differences depending on how you play. Nobody is saying the game is real life but its equally mental to say the game doesn't exist.
