It's pretty sad how many elderly people still have to work in the US. My mom still works, she spent her life supporting my mentally disabled sister, who NEVER was able to receive disability payments due to long bureaucratic processes I mean her claim was taking years and years and my sister already died recently before she ever got disability. Now my mom still just has to work for herself because rent is so high and she has no savings due to supporting my sister. America needs to do better to help its vulnerable citizens. And no I can't afford to support her either.

When the government won’t help the people, we the people come together and help out one another. I hope more people who want to help the elderly will start doing something just like this woman did. I saw a lot of comments about people saying they feel bad when they see elderly people working at grocery stores and other jobs, well instead of feeling bad for them, do something to help them out. Talk to them, get their story. Go change someone’s life.

Your just prolonging the problem. You can't charity your way out a systemic problem created by corporations. At the end of the day these elderly still have to work, but now beg for your charity. Where is the honor and dignity in that?

I’m all for kindness and generosity for your fellow man, but this is a widespread systemic issue that unfortunately cannot be solved by charity efforts-a bandaid for a broken skeleton. I’m genuinely happy for the select few who got help like this man, and grateful to those who go out of their way to help them, but reforming our society is an entirely different beast

@@lextacy2008 honestly the USA has the perfect system as far as I’m aware. Social security is literally based on how much you made working and you can estimate how much you will get at any time. Need more for when you retire? Work a higher paying job invest your money plan ahead… people get like 50 years to make sure they have a good retirement but they waste it…

I went to high-school with her. She always invited the struggling over for dinner. She was known as the struggle dinner savior, or the SDS for short. I remember people would take advantage of her and only pretend to struggle so they could get free dinner. She learned how to differentiate the fake struggles from the real struggles. The funny thing is that she was struggling to differentiate between them at first so she realized she earned a free dinner herself. Anyway good to see she's still doing her thing

No it’s not messed up. Read how other cultures treat their elderly. There is no government safety net. Many cultures expect the children to care for their parents. Granted if you don’t have kids it can be very lonely even if you have money. Ideal situation is to have a strong family unit.

As a senior, I know how it is to suddenly find yourself struggling even after working without vacations most of my life

This brought tears to my eyes. I can't stand seeing elderly people struggle or suffer. I'm glad they met with good people who were good enough to help them out and make things easier for them.

I was on a trip to Georgia recently, and there was an elderly lady at the local burger place, and I couldn’t even finish my food wondering “is she working because she wants to, or because she has to?” I honestly had to suppress my tears. Elderly people should not HAVE to work unless it’s an option, and they WANT to.

The problem is only going to be exacerbated by low birth rates plus higher life expectancy tbh. Also the western ideal of “leaving the nest” at 18/your early 20s contributes to this because people just forget their older parents and grandparents. To fight this problem, you have to support the elderly people in your own life first.

Everyone’s commenting about personal experiences and how wonderful this girl is - I agree, she’s great. But as an American, I get so frustrated when I see people struggle to survive poverty, yet continue to vote against their interests. It’s sad to see our community members barely treading water - especially when they’re old. Social security is no where near enough to live. That’s what we need to be talking about. The divide between rich and poor grows almost exponentially and while we argue amongst ourselves, the wealthy and ultra wealthy line their pockets with our blood, sweat, and tears.

I use to work in a retirement home and would go the extra mile by spending time with them for a few hours just listening to their stories,when my position didn't even demand I do so. I was a dishwasher but at times whenever the food wasn't prepared in time and they had no one to take the food to the rooms of the elderly,they'd send me and I'd stay to make them feel like they mattered and it broke my heart when one of them. I kindly old woman said to me "You're the first person aside from the orderly to visit me,even my own children don't want to" 🥺

The world could be a much more beautiful place if we start treating our seniors better. This woman has done a really great thing. I will keep my eye out for seniors in need in my community. A lot of people don't understand how many of them don't have anyone.

Wow! This is just what we should all see on You Tube! Uplifting stories of how much good we can do for our fellow man who is in need. It is just wonderful that these 2 women took the time to set up a Go Fund Me for these 2 gentlemen. The vet who had a stroke and had to make deliveries to get income just broke me! God bless these 2 women for helping them!

I absolutely love videos like these and I love humans like these, we need more of these people and we all know it. It is a travesty that a man that age has to work, let alone 2 jobs! When any one cries about how much we can’t spend to support those of us in need, remember these men.

That woman is a very good human doing good works for others. Ty to the parents who raised her to see others. It's refreshing

This why I always give a substantial tip. Most people don't realize how much they need friends.

What beautiful and amazing souls!!!! How beautiful to see people taking care of each other. Especially the elders and vulnerable of our communities!!! Thank you to these Angel's on earth. My heart broke to se these elderly people working so hard when they should be retired and resting peacefully, enjoying their golden years.

I love seeing kindness amongst all of us human beings, helping one another no matter age, race, sex or gender we gotta help one another and stick together.

I’m so glad to hear someone cared enough to make a difference for this man. A lot of people have to work no matter of age and/or disability. It’s hard to survive in the U.S.

We need more humans like this. Thankfully this lady did a wonderful deed and God bless both of them!

This brought tears to my eyes. Not just the story of this man but the love and concern for him by a complete stranger. This is what God calls every person to do. What a wonderful young woman to reach out and make a difference in this mans life. God bless her! I hope this story will encourage people to help others more.

Actually, if the elderly didn't pay into social security, they would be better off unless they didn't work. When I was a minor, I had to pay into social security. I could have used that money elsewhere. We don't need to tax the rich: we need to lower taxes on the middle class and stop insane government spending.

I do doordash while in college, I couldn’t imagine doing this past retirement age. It’s a shame that elderly have to work when they should not be.

The fact that he even has to do this hurts my heart. We truly need to do better for our elderly people. God bless him

It makes me so sad to see how elderly people who don’t have that much support from the government or have lost so much have to do these things to keep supporting themselves. Honestly I hope he gets all the help he needs

my mother is a diabetic high cholesterol high blood pressure and always been a single hard working mother shes about to be 60 😢 she also deserves this and so much more ♥️ but she doesnt want to stop working because of bills but also to stay active she gets bored stayyin home alone god bless the elderly
