Haunting Things Found Underwater

These were haunting things found underwater. In 2019, a diver found a GoPro with a drowning victim’s last recorded moments at the bottom of a murky lake. In 2023, a man out fishing discovered a camera that was lost 13 years before. In 2022, a documentary crew from the History Channel found wreckage from one of the worst disasters in NASA history. Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall has more.

That got to me too, that he was fishing right over his daughter's remains unknowingly. That's going to haunt him for the rest of his life, even though he couldn't have possibly known. I understand that feeling. I've been through something similar, where I could have prevented a murder if I'd only seen the killer waiting for his victim in the backyard that I just slowly drove past on my way to work. I couldn't have known, but I still kicked myself for not looking in that direction.

Fun fact. Robert Ballard actually found the Titanic by accident. Ballard and his team were employed by the US Navy to find the USS Thresher. A 500 Lb. bomb hit my uncles ship and penetrated the top three decks. He said he was thrown up in the air 20 feet off the deck and slammed down and all 20 people standing around him were killed instantly. We took a scooter to one of the farther parts of the island and found a couple small shops that had police tape all over them. We glanced through the windows and saw absolutely beautiful pottery. It wasn’t until years later when we were watching a documentary on Roman shipwrecks that we realized we stumbled upon stolen ancient artifacts and how much they were worth.

It's like she's reading a grocery list instead of sharing the excitement of finding shipwrecks, spaceship debris, and decades-old cars. Such a missed opportunity to captivate the audience with the wonder and mystery of these finds!

At 4:03, the narrator say's, "War War 2." Actually, it's, "World War 2." Also, at 4:55 the narrator say's this ship was found over a mile under water. It also shows the scuba divers investigating the wreck. How can this be? No diver can survive the depth of a mile under water. The World War 2 Ship found 4 miles down, with potentially "Live Shells", is of no concern. With 4 miles of water covering the shells, any explosives energy would dissipate before reaching the surface.

Dbx1233: As a novice diver in 1978, I dived with my diving club on a WW1 wrecked ammunition ship. There were still a lot of unexploded shells around the wreck, along with ones that had exploded. I was bringing one of the unexploded shells to the surface for a souvenir, when the Dive - Master told me to set it down again. He explained later that the unexploded shell could still explode once exposed to the air. Instead I brought up an exploded shell and kept it as a door stop until I moved house. It had concentric rows of lead balls as shrapnel in it. Such precision devoted to killing people. The wrecked ship had sailed from Canada to England and for some reason was also carrying lots of crockery in the cargo. The ship had been torpedoed and sank of Cornwall in South- West England.
