Winter Smallmouth Fishing on the Hocking and Great Miami River!
Спорт
It's getting late in the season, with water temperatures staying consistent in the low to mid-40s. There are still some active fish but you need to put some work in to find them. This video is from a small float I completed the week before Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving. Despite cold temps, the fish are still going after some larger profiles. Enjoy the tolerable weather while it lasts!

Great cold water fishing video. Patience is key for sure. The smallies on plastics weren't a big surprise but that absolute UNIT on the Trace was special. Thanks for taking us along brother. Blessings

I wish we would have had a consistent winter. But hopefully spring is right around the corner!
It's my first ever fall/ winter fishing and it's definitely the toughest so far. I'm enjoying the challenge though!

Another unreal video dude!! I have the same 5" Trace that you have but haven't used it much. I'm definitely going to hit the Nikko booth at the Expo for hellgrammites. I already have some leaches. Bought some packs of Big Joshy swimbaits stocking stuffers for the spillways fishing for Saugeye. I'm ready for winter fishing ( less population )

Thanks Tony!! My rod and reels are basically the same. I like a 7’3 MH fast action rod with a Tatula elite 8.1. I’ve been pretty simple and basic. If I’m throwing a spinning rod it’s a 610-7’1 medium xtra fast. Appreciate the support man

I think that 5-7 inch range is a perfect big sized bait for the smallies
believe it or not , dont hesitate to throw a topwater bait this time of year, i know it doesnt sound right but these big creek smallies are still very active !!

Interesting!! Is there a water temp when that shuts off? The bigger fish ate my Trace just an inch or two below the surface in 43 water temps so I guess that’s not much different!

@thecreekcrawler I'm not sure to be honest, we have caught them in the dead of winter before on ploppers.....we figured that out by accident lol..... the first year whopper ploppers came out my buddy wanted to see how it looked in the water ( he got a bunch for Christmas) he lives on paint creek so we walked down and like the third cast he smoked a giant in 2' of water....ever since then we always try it and it seems to be hit or miss, sunny days are best......but that slow moving water in this video would be perfect for that technique
Still on a few late into the year! Fun watch even if it took a couple outings!

Forgot to mention the dorsal fin was odd looking? The webbing between the spines was gone?@@thecreekcrawler
I was curious to know if a split ring should be placed on the Trace. I just purchased my first one and I was surprised it does not come with one. Would adding one affect its motion at all? Appreciate all your dedication and hard work. thanks

I’ve never used one on the Trace so I couldn’t tell ya. It’s worth trying out if you wanted. I could see it messing the swimming action up if you were to burn it
Creek-- that 6th Sense Trace comes in floating, slow sinking, or fast sinking. Which one have you been using this season?

Slow sink is the one I have been using.

Have you fished Beaver Creek very much? I was down there many years ago, and it was really shallow. Do you know how I can check the status 3:29 without driving over a couple of hours? Thanks for sharing your videos.

Which kayak trail are you doing? The buckeye kayak fishing trail is not working for me. It’s my first year so I’d like to be in a smaller trail. Just wondered if you knew of any?

CC, Been a while since I've been on YT - work/family/holidays. I finally got caught up on your last tourney, some in between & after Kiser Lake. Big congrats to you bud! What a year! Wow, all the high teens, 3+# chunks you've pulled, hood stuff! Congrats on qualifying for the National event this spring as well. You had better make it out down there!! Is there an opportunity to communicate with you off YTube? Nothing serious in nature, just a brain pick regarding gear/kayak. Merry Christmas! Dave B - NE Ohio. (Changed my ID to Rocket2008)
