I love this idea and you should definitely make it a series. As someone who consumes a lot of knitting related content, I am always impressed by how thorough and prepared you are for your videos. This is a great alternative for people looking to step back from fast fashion but still want the aesthetics of the clothing (me lol)!

Ditto here!
Thank you for summing up the trends. Sometimes I actually think that the wave of new knitters have contributed to the design of knitted pieces we find in the stores. You are not the only one who have looked at a knit piece in the shop and thought. I can make it myself. I can also substitute the fabric with wool, alpaca, silk, mohair..... and no plastic, and I can add alterations so it fits me better.
The last pattern is beautiful - suitable for all year round wear in cotton, wool or combinations.❤️
Yes, please make this into a series, I can't wait for more! This was very inspiring and kind of funny timing, since I was shopping online during the weekend and for the first time in my life I thought: I could knit that, wouldn't that be nicer? :D Thanks for doing the research, looking forward to your spring finds!

I'm also excited for the spring finds!
This was excellent. Please continue with this idea. Really well presented. Lots of information presented in a concise manner. Thank you.
I love this idea who doesn’t want to be on trend ty
YES. A great idea. Maybe a couple more ready-made vendors, like Banana Republic?
Great concept. Knitting your own replica is so satisfying.
Great podcast. Thanks for putting in the time sourcing that all out.
I hope you do continue this as a series! You are so thorough and thoughtful with your observations and pattern choices. I love that last (honorable mention) pattern - it is so beautiful!
This is a great idea and I do hope you make it a series. I can't wait for some summer pieces. I love the idea of taking inspiration from trending things but still being able to add that one of a kind, hand made element to it. My husband laughs at the idea of "trendy" knit wear items (good naturedly, of course... and I'll give it to him that for the general public that statement may seem like a bit of a paradox) but I think that knits based on trending fashion items is a great way to show that knitting is always in style!
you found so many lovely patterns!! loved it. it's a shame there is no basket wave-polo sweater pattern available, but the polo sweater with a texture in the collar is also so nice!! great job!
Yes you should make this a series!
Love this series and supporting designers instead of fast fashion!!
This is such a great concept for a video! Please keep this series up!

omg so cute ty for all the polo sweater options!
This was so interesting! Would you consider adding a brief menswear section at the end? I'm curious about knitted trends for a more masculine style.
What a great idea for a podcast! Thank you for doing the work for us. I've many new sweaters for my Ravelry favorites. Looking forward to your spring finds.
Enjoyed this style of content, have seen something similar for sewing patterns in the past. It’s certain a useful reference 😊
Love this series, and I recognize a lot of the patterns shown because I've already favorited them on Ravelry. Will look forward to having another one of this series for summer knits for upcoming ss season!

Good job on this video. I enjoyed watching it.
Love this concept and would like to see more like it! I've always thought Petite Knit must study commercial garment trends since her patterns are always so on point. Thanks for this video and inspiration :)
Hi Amy I love your podcasts !!! You have such a gentle spirit Thank you for sharing and giving this update on styles patterns and what’s trending Deb 🇨🇦🇨🇦
This video was such a blessing!! I had my eye in a few pieces from this video but hadn’t taken the time to find a pattern yet and I LOVE the patterns you shared💕 thank you!
Wow this was awesome! Thank you so much for putting this together it was so very inspiring. I’m a horrendous shopper, I just don’t enjoy it at all, online or irl so this was very interesting 🙏🥰
It's such a good idea ! I find a lot of inspiration through commercial brands and I'm always in the hunt of finding similar designs in the knitting community. Thank you for doing all the searching work for us and for all the good recommendations ! I would definitely love you to keep on doing this kind of videos in the future 😀
I love this concept! Also, I am so happy to see Fable Knitwear shouted-out. She is one of my favorite designers and I've had a really great time knitting a few of her patterns in the past :)
I really love this idea!! I just started knitting last year, and i love how many things you can create yourself and give your own twist, especially things trending. Would love to see this as a series 😊
Brilliant idea! Love it! I'm a returning knitter and have finally overcome my fear of knitting from patterns. I have been working on socks this winter and have yet to tackle a single garment. This was the perfect video to give me some ideas. Are you able to add if the sweaters' patterns are easy, medium, or advanced?
This was great! Thank you so much for the time and attention to detail you put into this video. I hope you don't mind me saying this, but you say Lanark with the emphasis on the first syllable - LANuck. It's a place in Scotland!

No, thank you! I am not familiar with Scottish pronunciations at all, so I will happily take the feedback!
I have one idea/request if you do more videos like this: could you please tell us when each hand-knit pattern was published if you can find the info, & also if at all possible when each mass merchandising/commercial store started selling the similar sweater or garment - that last part would probably be much harder to find out. I just think it would be very interesting to compare. I loved this video & am sure it took a LOT of work to gather the data - I trust it was a labor of love!
@neknits
Жыл бұрын
That is an interesting idea! I could easily share the publication dates of the knitting patterns but I am unsure how to determine the "release date" of fast fashion pieces. But definitely would be cool data to compare - to see if the knitting patterns are influencing the fast fashion pieces or vice versa.
I think the September sweater by Ozetta would also be similar to the H&M sweater
I loved this idea for a vlogcast! If you do it again, some details on where you searched and what criteria you used for your search to find patterns matching the trend would be great.

I used Ravelry's advanced search for most of the patterns! There you can specify the style of sweater, specifics on neck style and stitch pattern, etc which helped a lot!
❤
Hey Amy! I loved this video and I would love to a series like this! I truly appreciate this content! Keep them coming! Take care!🤗
Just fyi the polo sweater you mentioned by originally lovely is not a free pattern.

Tesoro actually means "treasure", but I suppose the intent is the same as sweetheart when you call some "my treasure" :)
It is best if you can knit your own things as the yarn those stores use is garbage. They do not hold up over time. Clothing and pretty much everything else is junk today. Just watch some old movies where you will see people wearing beautiful clothing, fabrics, designs and also notice the furnishings, etc. It is sad, but people are walking around with their pajamas on!
Sorry but I hope my hand made sweater are nicer and better then H& M sweater
