god, so many memories. the single player for this game was absolutely marvelous, and I believe the single player is what really makes splatoon splatoon. aesthetic backgrounds, really good music, and all in all, a story that doesn't go very deep but still is enjoyable. the sunken scrolls really add to the lore too. i hope, if we ever get a splatoon 3, it adds more story, though.

Didn't think this game would get it's own single player campain, but it did. And it looks awesome. This might be the first shooting game that I'll actually enjoy. Especially the colorful and vivid artstyle of it.

Actually I can see that coming by the time Splatoon releases. You could buy it separately or receive it for free when buying Splatoon. The Inkling character would come in 4 different colors, each color with a boy and a girl alternative, just like the Wii Fit Trainer. I can only dream.

9 years ago when this trailer was released, I remember hearing miyamoto talk about his new game in the works where you're a "squid kid superhero" and thinking to myself "that's the dumbest thing ever" now nearly 10 years later I've played all 3 games on their release date and have expierenced such beautiful story telling and lore of such a wonderful cephalopod filled game. splatoon changed me as a person and I'm ever so grateful to of had the privilege to play. thankyou nintendo

I think the cut octarians (00:35) are just an early version of the Octosnipers. Their mouths are like squirt guns, probably used to project thin shots of ink. They sit in a pool, so they can't move. They remain stationary why they presumably shoot projectiles at you from a distance. They were obviously intended to be a challenge to approach and take out. The reason there are three of them is to cover all angles and make it all the more difficult to get near. This (possible) early version of the Octosniper was not designed to move or rotate. Today's version is designed to rotate on its own, hence why you only face 1 at a time as opposed to 3. But that's just a theory. A GAME THEORY.

This is when you realize that we are close to splatoon 3 and its almost 7 years old, i feel old, splatoon is my favorite game from 2015 and i loved it and splatoon is my favorite game so far, can’t wait to play Splatoon 3, you will probably see this when splatoon 3 is already in your nintendo switch, best thing from splatoon 2 so far is octo expansion, best way to spent 20 dollars, i even bought 3 month premium just for the final event of splatoon 2, it was sooo fun, the gamemodes are fun as well and they are short so you can play a lot of times at the day and not getting bored at all, i mean that splatoon is the best game of nintendo in my point of view and i hope nintendo keeps making another splatoons or DLC’s, good game (not pay to win) thx nintendo for another good game for our heart :).

I just noticed something extremely interesting: At the start of the trailer it showcases some more of the 4v4 mode. If you watch you can see that the teams spawn which different weapons including a sniper! This suggests you may now be able to select your weapon at the start of the match, which was not possible in the e3 build of the game. This is really cool because when I tried it that is the one place I thought it lacked in because there was only one weapon available. (Aside from the special weapons but they were merely a power up and only lasted ten seconds).

Yes but like I said in the E3 build during the game you would have to fill up a meter and then push in the right analog stick to get a "special weapon" which did include a sniper but only lasted for ten seconds. The screenshots and trailer in no way suggested you would have the ability to spawn with a chosen weapon. If you watch the trailer you can clearly see that both teams start with the same weapon.

Interesting because when i tried it I had multiple turns and out of the 4 times I played I got 3 bazookas and only one sniper. Maybe they are using a system similar to mario kart 8 where more powerful items appear less frequently?

Just realized that the Splatoon 3 Hero Mode trailer is supposed to homage this.

8 years have passed since this masterpiece announced, oohh god i have so many memories of this times, but this game was perfect, i don't know how to explain the feeling, but it feels so much nostalgic, i was kid when i was playing this, now look how splatoon have become, love this game❤️

I love absolutely everything about this game so far! The music, the aesthetic, the graphics, the gameplay, the fact that it is a multiplayer shooter but made by Nintendo. And I get a small Super Mario Sunshine vibe off it because of the ink. I keep waiting for Mario to swoop in and clean it all up with FLUDD.

***** You serious? Color Wars isn't "exactly" like this. Besides being a shorter that uses ink as bullets, they're nothing alike. As for Drawn to Death, it looks like any other shooter but with different art style. Change the art style to that of Team Fortress, and anyone would think it's a Team Fortress game.

These are the commercials the should have used instead of YOUR KID NOW YOUR SQUID NOW or the other song related commercials

I think I'm the only person in the world who is currently more excited for this awesome game (which I have already tried out at an event and it is awesomely fun), more than any other Nintendo game next year, yes even more than Zelda Wii U! Sue me. Although having said that, VERY little was shown of Zelda Wii U so thats mainly why. Still this single player mode looks really awesome and also quite innovative. And people say Nintendo can't innovate anymore...

Pepper my best bet are mega octartians with body armor, my guess on how to beat them is by throwing a bomb, the armor falls off, and then it's an ez splat

Minecraft Gamer64 same. I was never there for the original Splatoon, but I have the second as well as the DLC. A friend of mine has Splatoon, but doesn’t have a Switch, so we always play each others XD.

When I was younger, I remember defeating DJ Octavio, the final boss and I felt so accomplished. Also, hearing Maritime Memory while I was inking the credits is one of the best memories I have of this game. 💖✨

always thought this was one of the best gameplay trailers in a long time. this song is SO good but the way they timed it to the chaos of the gameplay itself through its cuts and transitions is awesome. it's stuck with me even over 6 years later.

Trailer: 5 lives Game: 3 lives HAXX!

Its been 8 years since splatoons first release and the most recent is just as popular I haven't played the newest game but looking back at this gives me fond memories of the past a much simpler time

I’m crying how was this 8 years ago?!?

What's been shown of the game so far reminds me a lot of Jet Set Radio. Music, visuals, gameplay, story, pretty much everything that made JSR great...maybe Splatoon will be the game to continue its legacy as a spiritual successor of sorts. :)

I love how the music syncs perfectly to the gameplay on screen.

From octopus dude shooting ink at u to a fighting a furry in space

The fact that this game's old concept was a bunch of rabbits shooting each other with ink. Glad for the Splatoon we have now.

i love it when trailers sync the music with the sound effects

Did a great job in making me want this game even more. I love the style to this game.

Dedicating this comment to things we see in the trailer that didn't make it or were changed in the final version of the game. 1. early version of octosnipers or ufo level octarians?? at 0:36 2. level design at 1:07 3. gusher designs at 1:20 4. level design at 1:22 Let me know if I missed anything!

The audio quality was and still is my favorite part from the beginning

And that was 6years ago boys.

i was 7 when this came out. Literally half my life ago. Insane.
