For those who didn’t notice, the store manager for the locker items is Harmony, a character that has actually been somewhat present before in the series. She’s part of the musical band known as Chirpy Chips that plays all sorts of battle music in Splatoon 2. If you look it up, she’s right there on the album cover!

The games one year anniversary is in 10 days, and it’s so nostalgic watching this again. I remember waking up real early and being mind blown with the stuff they added. I miss those times.

My best guess is that it's Cassandra Lee Morris! She's the voice of Morgana in Persona 5, and it kinda felt like her voice shifted into that character at times in the video

The thing I’m happiest about from this are the minor changes for the sake of convenience. For example I find the ability to set gear loadouts incredibly important. Also, the ability to use the training room while waiting for a match is really significant. All of it was very interesting.

I love how the splatoon colour themes are based on complimentary colours (opposite colours), for example… Splatoon 1 - orange and blue Splatoon 2 - pink a green Splatoon 3 - yellow and purple Some of the colours are slight variations such as pink, it’s meant to be red but pinks a good substitute

splatoon 2 and 3 seem to have color themes based on the last splatfest of the previous game since 1 ended w callie vs marie(pink and green) and 2 ended with chaos vs order(yellow and blue-purple) its kind of like how the last splatfest affects the next game since we spend more time with marie in 2 and there's a chaotic city/tone to 3

Rainmaker have multiple checkpoints, but also have multiple choices for each checkpoint, requiring the players to choose what fits their advantage

whoever this announcer was definitely needs a raise. everything was so easily digestible, and i’m glad new players can find their way even easier! she sounded so energetic, intrigued, and passionate overall. this 30 minute direct was beautifully executed!

FINALLY, A GAME MODE WITH MORE THAN 2 TEAMS! Entire direct was amazing, and props to the announcer. But it's something I've been asking for for ages! I'd love to see a 4 team turf war become a thing. 2v2v2v2, spawning at 4 corners of different maps or maybe all close ish to the middle and able to then reach the further ends.

Literally all I want is to be able to invite my friend and queue up for normal games. It sounds like the Ghosts thing is a decent fix for that. I remember splatoon 2 making you sit there and hope someone leaves your friend's match to make room for you to play, and then you'd often end up on opposite teams. I looooove splatoon, but playing with friends casually has always been handled like it's some new concept xD

I can't believe it's already been a year since this direct came out, I remember after watching this I became obsessed with splatoon again.

I think my favorite detail from the direct is the fact that Captain Agent 3 still seems to have the ability to launch specials whenever, as shown at 20:31, when they flash yellow, and the top of their head shines.

The announcer featured in this Direct really sold every section, loved how much energy they brought to the narration. From returning Splatoon 1 stages, to Salmon Run becoming more intense, new idols, Splatfest premiere and the tease of story mode being a splatastic saga (with larger scale DLC on the rise) we’re truly in for a RIDE.

13:15 It’s almost been a full year, and no one is talking about how the Splattershot Pro, one of the most unused weapons in the game, got 1000 POINTS of turf, WITHIN THE FIRST MINUTE. How?? HOW?!?!!

Can’t wait! I bet the maps will be very creative and varied in design!

While I personally would have preferred players to have their own room to place stuff in, player owned lockers are a neat idea. It's really cool to see a game have proper sequels where they keep the good stuff and then add onto the game in their own way.

I love the change to rainmaker. It's no longer a "your opponent has 97 points, try to get to 98 or higher." Instead you have to reach certain checkpoints and then the rainmaker's shield has to be broken again. Solid Change.

yeah, this also prevents rainmaker wins within 10 seconds - I remember one occassion I rushed the rainmaker, splat half the team, and before the other two enemies even knew what was happening, I made it to the podium. I've even been on the receiving end of a win like that lol, so definitely a nice change

This seems like a gigantic game already and more stuff it's on the way, they hype is real, it just looks like the most perfect splatoon game, so much thank you to the developers and staff behind it! As someone who bought the switch only to play Splatoon 2, I'll sure get the hours out of this one too

Mario Odyssey is fun until you beat the story, and games like Mario Party and Mario Strikers on switch really aren't that fun to me. Maybe Super Mario Party might be better than Superstars idk,

The expressions of the characters are perfect and everything looks so lively like the inklings have actually remade civilisation but no humans. Nintendo doesn't just cease to be awful. They don't know how to!

Never played and I am going to start! Looks phenomenal.

I originally thought splatlands would be like an apocalyptic setting, but it seems more like a big shopping mall/plaza and i love it.

BIG MAN GANG!!!!! I love how different a vibe these idols give off, the Squid sisters had a very serious and very energetic combo, Off the Hook had a chaotic and calm combo, and this new trio seems to mix it up. The game looks amazing, with returning favorites, and new side ideas such as the locker and a tcg X ttg looks super interesting, cant wait to jump right in!

Been here since the first game and I love how the Splatoon series is gaining the bigger fanbase it deserves

I have no idea what it is this time around. But the animations for splatoon seem way more natural and fluid. Good to see splatoon 3 continue to get better and more and more hype with time.

if it's the end meaning that the inklings and octarians are no longer at each others throats, and final see things from the others perspective, then I'm fine with that. If it's the end meaning the octarians get defeated once and for all and all get imprisoned, then I'm not happy with that

I was genuinely afraid, I thought the game would be identical to the second, or even worse! But this Direct definitely made me change my mind! There are crazy news, the setting is much more oriental than that of previous games, and I love it. New weapons, story mode that feels spatial, practically a free choice of character customization of much more! I have no negative comments, the only flaw could be a short duration of the Story mode, which for lone players like me could be a problem, but I sincerely hope I'm wrong! 🐙

@@pixelpatch Local splitscreen isn't really feasible for Splatoon. Possible, but it'd be really clunky & limited in functionality. (Splatoon 1 had a 1v1 gamemode where one person used the TV and the other used the GamePad, but it was a simple balloon battle game with limited weapon and stage selections.) You can still use The Shoal for local multiplayer with multiple Switches, but still nothing for using a single Switch, unfortunately. It'd be cool if there was a Download Play functionality with limited multiplayer from one copy like the DS had...

The amount of QoL and polish put a smile on my face during this entire Direct. I was lukewarm on the game before. Mostly because my old crew quit Splatoon 2 so long ago, but this is likely going to cause everyone to come back for at least a few years. I was never competitive, but a few of the crew were. There appear to be some nice QoL changes for the competitive scene as well!

Well, what's there for casuals or solo only players (not counting the lackluster story mode)? I'm just assuming it's lackluster (to be fair) because they barely showed anything about it and all the attention/effort seems to just be Online features/modes. I'm genuinely curious since I'm interested in this game and MIGHT get it IF it has single-player / solo modes and content.

I’m honestly really impressed by how in-depth the world seems, the new stylised maps, the new salmon run, and all the other little details. I expected for this to be a complete copy of the last splatoon but Nintendo have really went above and beyond, it feels like they have listened to the fans and have worked really hard to make a very good game. The fact that they will be supporting the game with tons of new updates after launch is incredible and the tournaments are such a great idea to get people interested in playing the game. This will definitely be the best splatoon yet!!!

Uhhhh… we looking at the same game? U must have skipped splatoon 2, because honestly it looks fun… but it doesn’t look like they are bringing much new to the table in this game. Only two new weapons? They re-used a bunch of old stages, I only saw a few new moves. Honestly looks more like an update to splatoon 2, with the exception of the fact the campaign worlds appear bigger.

@@abiduestafelu Do not curse at me, thank you. Nearly every competitive player had X rank in all modes. I played competitive in Splatoon 1 too, the day it released til I bought Splatoon 2. I remember having 3400h+ in Splatoon before selling my Wii U. Let this be a testament to God changing you.

This was a SUPER informative direct; absolutely stoked for Splat 3 now! Also, I LOVE the new theming for the splatfests!!

I'll be honest with you, I was already sold to this game the moment I saw the splatana, three idols, new Salmon Run, potential Pearl & Marina return in a DLC and *COCONUT CRAB SHOPKEEPER* . Everything else for me is another reason to gladly enjoy this new Splatoon title. 😁

It brings tears to my eyes how much Splatoon has grown over the years. I’ve been a really big Splatoon fan since the beginning of Splatoon 1 (feels like it’s been yesterday) and now here we are, about to play the 3rd Splatoon game. This direct was incredible and I’m really hyped up for this game! I can’t wait to finally play this!!

Splatoon was always something I was kinda interested in, but not enough to get. But Splatoon 3 has had me getting progressively more and more excited about it! And the customization/diversity is so good! A game where I can finally make someone that genuinely looks like me and it makes me so happy! It's such a small part of this game, but it's so amazing!
