Absolutely right, sometimes too much but it’s a great song
What I like about this channel and what separates it from others is the fact that he doesn't pause the song allowing him to get the full vibe of the song before commenting. That alone was proof enough for me to subscribe and enjoy not only the song(s) but his feedback as well. I suppose his musical background doesn't hurt either in terms of his reactions. Great channel!

The ones who pause and talk, pause and talk, pause and talk, miss so much of the experience of hearing the whole song from start to finish. They don't let the story unfold and it really does annoy me.

This was a one-of-a-kind recording. I remember back in the day when I heard this I thought, "how did they make this sound." They literally recorded the vocals over and over, bouncing the tracks (on tape before digital even existed) until they had dozens of overlays perfectly blended. it's a masterpiece that they could never again equal. As for no one doing anything like this now, you might check out some of Jacob Collier's deeper cuts. That guy is simply a genius and has done some things reminiscent of this sound. Thanks for your reaction.
This was a tough one, almost skipped this song. Love this song and hate it. It came out when I was going through a divorce, and hits too close to home. After almost 45 years still makes my eyes water.

My divorce heart-stabbing song was Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me." "I'm Not in Love" doesn't bother me, because he really is in love.
Eris Stewart wrote this song for his wife who complained that he didn't tell her he loved her enough, they are still happily married 56 years later.
I vividly recall when this song was released in 1975. I could not get enough of it.
Written by band members Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman, Stewart came up with the idea for the song after his wife of eight years asked him why he didn't say "I love you" more often.
You don't have to do a reaction but if you have the time check out the Making of I'm Not In Love. Fascinating all the things they did in the studio with this song.

Big boys don't cry. - this was spoken by the receptionist at their studio. When I took another band in there to record, she was still there.
Methinks he doth protest too much… One of my faves from HS!
Bet you and your wife would enjoy Loggins and Messina "House At Pooh Corner." They have many smooth songs off the first album.
The magnificent 70’s. Will never be equalled, ever. Not even close.
That spooky back ground sound has always stayed with me since about 1975.
In the making of video for this song, they made the comment "We woud turn out the lights in the control room, lay on the floor and just listen to it"
If you're interested in a different sound from 10cc, hope you'll listen to "Art For Art's Sake" and "Good Morning, Judge", along with plenty of others that are wisely suggested in the other comments. Mid-way through the 1970s, the band broke in half, and Kevin Godley and Lol Creme became their own thing, as both musicians and video directors (creating and directing song videos for the likes of Duran Duran and others). 10cc was yet another band that had members who had attended art school, like The Beatles, The Who, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Queen, Roxy Music, The Clash, Talking Heads, etc. By the way, this is a band from Manchester, and very different from the bands that emerged from that city about a decade later in the next generation, in the punk and post-punk scenes (Buzzcocks, Magazine, Joy Division/New Order, etc, and then The Smiths) and others have followed, like Oasis.
The singer of the song, Eric Stewart said that he and the other guys in 10cc DID all lie down on the floor of the studio and listen to this with the lights off when they had finished mixing it... so there you go guys!
This is one of those songs that headphones would give another dimension to.

Summer of '75. Brings back lots of memories. Must be a generational thing, where the 'Love songs' of the '50s were different than those of the '60s, and the '70s were different than both, etc. The only other song I can remember of theirs was "The Things We Do For Love".
It was a long time ago when I first heard this song. I was shocked! I've never heard anything like it before. I immediately wanted to listen to it again and again. I fell in love with this song and I still have those feelings ... even today
As a rule, love songs are at the bottom of my play list, but this one is an exception, because the lyrics are so ironic. The video with the band performing is real strong.
I love seeing the younger generation dig this great music!
I recently saw the video of how they recorded this song. They used a mellotron for the background voices and on a whim, asked the secretary who worked at the studio to do the voice over of "big boys don't cry". The 70's was definitely the decade of the love song/ ballad writers. I was born in 65' but was raised by my grandparents and was heavily influenced by an older generation in terms of music and entertainers. The 70's was a great time for a kid growing up musically. We heard 50's, 60's and the then current artists. A lot of the younger generation today seem to only be aware of what's current and have no idea that music actually existed before they were born..lol. It's gotten so bad that in some of the reaction videos I've seen, they can't even name an instrument that's being played except for the drums. However, I remain hopeful and am glad that they've finally taken an interest with an open mind.
@parissimons6385

From what they say in the documentary piece, they didn't use mellotron for the voices. Those are magnetic tape loops - recordings looped and re-recorded of the voices of the members of the band. Think of the operatic chorus in Bohemian Rhapsody, also recorded in the days before digital duplication or samples. kzread.info/dash/bejne/g6Vr0amensXWYqw.html

@@parissimons6385 Thank you for the correction. I know that a mellotron works with taped loops and is why it was the first thing that came to mind when describing the background vocals. Either way, it was very ingenious for the band to incorporate a similar process to create such a unique sound. Thank you again.
@philmordecai

Yes, it was multiple overdubed tape loops each of a different note in the scale. They fed it through the mixing desk with each member of the band controlling a series of mixers. They the 'played' the desk like a keyboard bringing different notes in and out the create the ethereal chords made up entirely of voices. 10cc where a very clever and inventive group. There are a some interesting documentaries on them out there.

I certainly don't mind your revisiting these beautiful classic songs . I love this song, it is so ethereal and beautiful. What Dee is describing sounds exactly like what my friends did back in early 70's. Get stoned, then lay back and listen to music like this or Pink Floyd or ELP an chill while the room went round and round !! LOL! Not that I'm advocating that ,I haven't done anything like that in 40+ years, but I sure don't regret those days either - happy memories. A friend of mine in Europe was lucky enough to see 10cc in concert, I believe this past summer. He said they were still wonderful and played this song. It's nice to hear they are still out there.

10cc were massive back in the UK in the '70's. Led by Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, they revolutionised 'pop music' with the sound of this track using computerised sounds and imagery in the official video.

Forgot about this song. Thanks for the memory!!! So many layesr of sound, amazing for its time.😊🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
The most interesting fact about this song was how the song was recorded. The synth sound you hear was actually made from thousands of vocal tracks that were overlapped rather than a synthesizer, which didn't yet exist. There are video which discuss this innovation.

Another truly awesome tune from an awesome mix.
When this tune came out , a great deal was made of the non existing studio effects created for the recording at the time. But there is a more recent years live recording available currently on YT which is a astonishingly excellent production. Search for it. You'll love it.
They have a newer version live thats really good, its like 10 years back, worth seeing.Sounds incrediable.
It was fun to see you get the joy of sharing with your wife. It's the same joy requestors get when you react to their favorite. I don't listen to a lot of "today's music" so I can't really say if you're correct, but the depth today seems to be lacking. The writer of this was understanding that he would have to portray a false front to the listener, and the listener would have to comprehend the title and chorus were a lie the guy was telling himself. Check out the Professor of Rock's detailed look into this song for some interesting history.
bowie's low via the berlin sound gets a lot of credit for ushering in techno... but keep in mind this single was 2 years before that. in other words this was truly landmark re innovation.

As @djfrank68 commented below, you really should watch "The Making of I'm Not In Love". It's less than 15 minutes long, but mind-blowing as far as what they did to get the sounds you hear throughout. It's basically all of their voices recorded as "ahs" in every key that equated to several hundred tones (or something like that; I don't remember exactly). Just watch it!

More great 70's Am Radio.
I grew up listening to this song on the radio, but it was short version.
There was nothing like "I'm Not In Love" when it was released in 1975. There still isn't anything like "I'm Not In Love" in 2022.
Ahh.. first band I saw live, all those years ago 🥰
The way they created this is a story in itself. All members sang the aaas on multiple tracks in different keys. They then constructed the backing harmonies by playing the tracks on mixing board by opening up the volume gliders, all four members hands on deck.
'I'm Not in Love' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody' were both long singles that made 1975 a year to remember!
Trying to convince himself he's not in love. Oh but he is. Great song.
There's a video on how this song was made, it's really awesome.

Chod, if you like 10cc you should also listen to Godley & Creme. 10cc was originally a four-piece: Stewart, Gouldman, Godley, and Creme. Godley & Creme split from the band and put out some more experimental music as well as becoming top video producers. Their song "Cry" became a big hit, and quite a few of their other songs a worth a dig too ("Under Your Thumb", for one).
10cc are - yes they're still going - an AWESOME band! Dreadlock Holiday... Rubber Bullets... The Things We Do For Love... all are insanely brilliant, but this song - THIS SONG - this is their finest hour! I'm not in love isn't just brilliant, it's Divine! If I make it to Heaven, this is the song that will be playing over the loudspeakers as I pass through the gates.
Dreadlock Holiday is such a different sound for them. Check it out !! This is my youth.

PLEASE, dear god in heaven GIT HER SOME HEADPHONES!!! 60’s-70’s, EVERYTHING was recorded in STEREO for a reason!!!
Other songs about love and breaking up were a teade mark of The Walker Brothers' Try 'No regrets' as a starter, for this very popular group in the UK in the 1970's.
10cc I don't like cricket, was huge in Australia. Legendary English band. Would love to see them play at Sir Shane Warne's funeral .
