The ability this girl has to captivate and move the people who listen to her is absolutely incredible, as is her sensitivity in choosing and interpreting the song for this ceremony. This performance of hers is charming and wonderfully intimate, she made this legendary song perfectly suited for the occasion of the tribute to Narges Mohammadi's story! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way 7 years after the last time and in the same studio and certainly also with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps towards his musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and "unchained", probably the only singer who at only 17 years old has already sung on 2 different occasions at the celebrations of Nobel Prizes.💛🧡❤

"Did I get goosebumps?" She is truly a messenger of love and everything about this young lady (she just had her18th birthday on Jan 10th) soothes our heart with a warm glow and it will never fade away. Vocally she is supreme and when you listen to her you can't explain it but you know something else is going on. Why? Because you've never felt such a surge of love like this before in your life. That's quite a statement but millions of people around the world will attest to that phenomenon which occurs. Her soulfulness uses her voice as an instrument to spread her love to all who will listen to her sing. In the beginning of the video you described the sound of the orchestra as a theme from a fairytale production. So true and when we listen to Angelina it has the same affect but there is a difference. She draws us into her world while she is singing and the feeling we get is very, very real. Her love is genuine and our heart recognized it immediately and it's why you felt goosebumps, had tears in your eyes (with the urge to cry) and found it difficult to speak normally during or just after she performed. When you put it all together some will regard it as a mystery without definition and have no intention of delving into what is going on. Why? Enjoying the experience of feeling the joy, the hope and the love in her voice is paramount and no explanation is necessary.

A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice. As usual, a vocal master piece. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZread. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on KZread went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on KZread. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On KZread, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. I think you do a really good reaction and should go "with yourself" even more. If you have emotions, explore those, if you are reminded of something, explore that. yes, everyone wants a short video, but that doesn't mean at the end you can't indulge yourself (and us) a little and talk about the particulars of how and why something affected you and how that felt, etc.. I am curious. Norwegian belongs to the North Germanic group while German and English belong to the West Germanic group ... but I noticed that when Angelina was on NGT she says that she is singing 'Gloomy Sunday Frau Billy Holiday' .. obviously Frau I recognized immediately (my three years in Germany consisted of my learning to order beer and food) .. curious if you can recognize other German words in Norwegian?

Angelina said "fra Billie Holiday" (from Billie Holiday) not Frau. I can see how you misheard that. Incidentally the Norwegian word for Mrs. (German: Frau) is - "Frue".. so yes there are many similarities between Norwegian and German - and English.. 🙂

The word "fra" in Norwegian means "from" and as far as I can remember when Angelina pronounced it on her audition on NGT it sounded like "frah" with the "ah" pronounced as in the English word "half". As "frau" in German means woman, I doubt they are from the same root.

@@alberttenfoot Indeed they are not. "Fra" (Nor) is "von", pronounced "fon" in (Ger). "Fru", pronounced "Froo" in (N) is "Frau", pronounced "Frao" in (Ger). And Angelina said "fra" (from), meaning it's not "by" Holiday, but inspired by Holiday's interpretation of the song.. "FROM Billie Holiday"..

Bitte tue der Fliege nichts, die ist schon völlig fertig! Seit vier Wochen nichts als Überstunden, und es wird nicht weniger - wenn Du verstehst was ich meine 😉 aber ernsthaft - wenn man den Anlass hier kennt und weiß warum der diesjährige Friedensnobelpreisträger den Preis nicht selbst entgegennehmen konnte, ist der Impact noch viel größer. Diese Lied hat Angelina ja nicht ausgesucht weil es so schön ist oder gut zu ihrer Stimme passt. Das Original ist NICHT von den Righteous brothers (deren cover ist von 1965) sondern aus einem Gefängnisfilm von 1955 (dort singt es ein ausgebildeter Opernsänger). Angelina hat es dem Anlass entsprechend arrangiert (etwas Elvis ist auch mit drin) und mit diesem Orchester (KORK) und dessen Arrangeur hat sie wieder super zusammengearbeitet. Wenn Dir diese Kombination gefällt, wäre sicher auch Angelinas "Summertime" mit KORK (gleiches Orchester wie hier) von 2016 etwas für Dich. Angelina lebt seit sechs Jahren in LA, die Chancen sie in DE zu sehen sind nicht besonders gut - es sei denn Du erwischst zufällig ein Charity event (zuletzt war sie 2022 in Mannheim). Wenn in Europa dann eher in Norwegen - lohnen würde es sich auf jeden Fall, live ist sie krass gut. Das Vermitteln von Emotionen hat Angelina einfach unglaublich gut drauf, was man noch empfehlen könnte ist "Easy on me" (Adele), "A million years ago" (auch Adele), "Stay" (Rihanna), "Cant Help Falling In Love With You" (Elvis). Aber die Fliege wird das nicht gut finden ... Dann vielleicht lieber "Diamon", "You Say" oder "Our time" - "Shield" (in der Skavlan-Version) ist auch nicht schlecht. Aber egal was Du machst, Hauptsache Du machst öfter mal wieder etwas von Angelina ("All of me" (John Legend) finde ich auch sehr schön 😇).
