Finally someone identified the actual root cause of the uneven flame. My GE profile Gas range had similar issue from day one, but what I found out was burner base itself was not level on the top. So Burner cover plate is not sitting evenly on the burner base. So recently I sanded down the Burner base to level it out. Of course, the result was even worse, because of those tips of the top of base were sanded down now, and there is no flame from those area, like Automight explained. So, I created some gap with needle file in those areas and now flame is mostly even. But overall sanding reduced the gap all around the burner, and this reduced the gas flow, so now at full flame it makes more noise. I ordered a replacement Burner base, hopefully it takes care of it completely.

Nice...I'm glad this was useful. Hopefully those who watch will have even flames for life and never have to change the stove. Thanks for you comment!

Our two most-used burners were extremely uneven flame-wise, and I had followed all the "level the stove" and "clean/soak the burner head" advice with no luck, so I purchased a new head off eBay and tested one. Problem solved! I just received and replaced the second burner, with a similar result--everything is back to nice and even. I'm not sure that cleaning the burners creates the issue, as we clean the whole stovetop in the same manner, but only the two most frequently used burners had the evenness problem. Regardless, new parts worked, despite not being able to see any difference between the old and new by eye. If I get ambitious, I might pull out my micrometer and feeler gauges and see if the gaps and heights are significantly different, but for now I'm just going to be grateful for a stove that no longer burns everything on one side of the frying pans.

Nice! I'm glad it all worked out. But you can test this theory yourself. If you file off one side of the burner head, you will see that the flames become uneven. This happens when we clean the burner head caps while the caps are still on the burner heads. Slowly wears off one side of the burner head and the flames become uneven. Unless of course if you spill tons of food on the stove, then the cleaning solution should do the job.

No, unfortunately it will make it worse. It's better to just get a new one.

He has no idea of what he is saying burners have to be cleaned regularly you can do that by cleaning the burners with detergent let them soak for half an hour you don't need to buy new ones for years
