    Your videos are incredibly helpful. For the last 7 years, I've had one burner that didn't like to light on a brand new stove from day 1. Of course, it happens to be the burner that I want to use the most. After watching this, I fiddled around with it and now it lights right away every time. I didn't see anything come out of the hole when I probed it with a paperclip, but perhaps there was a bit of dust in there or something. I also built the oil changing vacuum device you did a video on. It is an honor to be your subscriber Sir, keep up the good work!

    Some older 20 + year ago era stoves had a trigger switch behind the gas burner knob to trigger the spark. They tended to fail, somewhat of an easy fix but you had to go in under the burner tray to get at the wires, which was a pain.

    Sometimes there's grease buildup around the gas handle that's prevents from the gas to reach the burning well.

    I see this video and find it very hard to imagine a person who didn't learn it by just hanging around his/her mom in the kitchen... then I hear "Beloved! if you are a bastard to a single mom who haven't had a chance to learn and teach you ...." and it all makes sense. Thanks for the video.

    one thing that wasn't mentioned was with that orifice bit having carbon build up. It wont be at the top but inside the tube, so you'd have to grab something like a paper clip, unbend it and clear it out the tube

    My problem is that sometimes the burner won't stop sparking, usually after a spill or cleaning. To be honest, I'd much prefer the old fashioned pilot light...that never cost you hundreds of dollars for a new circuit board and a service call that after diagnosis and waiting for parts took weeks. JMHO

  • @chrisnotap

    @chrisnotap

    The problem was back then is that your house smelled like natural gas plus it wasted a lot of fuel when you consider the millions of homes that had pilot lights.

    Gas stove will ignite with a match only. Cleaning doesn’t help. It doesn’t click anymore. I have a friend who new how to fix the clicking part, However that didn’t work either. Something is wrong with the electronic part of the stove. For now I’ll make due with matches. 🙃 Good video, thanks.

    Sometimes the actual ignitor can go bad, they work similar to a BQ pizo starter or fluid lighter, except some are powered and others not (Non flint). Depends on stove, some have left and right separated, some have an electronic board that feeds the power to all of them. Matches are cheap though so that's good to.

    And if you've cleaned/washed the stove top and burners with liquid cleaners and it doesnt light....let it dry. Or light the burners with a match to dry them quicker. Mine wont start if they get wet but they easily light again when they dry out.
