Hey Miranda! First off, I wanna wish you the BEST of luck during your call with the admissions officer :) I’m not exactly sure what they’re looking for, but I did see a few videos on KZread about appealing the decision, and one girl even made one about her UW application! I gotta be honest, I don’t know much about the appeal process, but from what I’ve seen online, just let them know why you’d be a good fit for the school and be prepared to include new info that may have been missing from your original application!

Considering applying to political science, how likely am I to get?

I'm an upcoming Junior in Highschool, class of 2024, and UW is my dream school!! I was just wondering, do you have any tips of what I can currently do in Highschool to up my chances of getting in? I honestly didn't do to good in my Freshmen year, because of virtual teaching let's me get distracted easy. My GPA sits sadly at a 3.2, should I take all AP classes this year? Or is there anything else I can do? I love your videos, and what you do, thank you!

More of a Question The 40 Hours of work that you mention can it be done for entities remotely and other states or must you be employed by a Washington business?

I’m not sure! I’m assuming they would count remote work so long as it’s enough hours per week. Their big focus is making sure the student is “financially independent” (so basically your work being enough to cover the costs of living/attending school in WA without the help of your parents). You can make an appointment, contact the office, or read more on this site: registrar.washington.edu/students/residency/residency-requirements/. Hope that helped!

Hey! Congratulations on committing to UW! Being directly admitted definitely alleviates a lot of stress, but as long as you have a really strong GPA and WSA score, then you should be good to go! The business admin major has a 30-50% acceptance rate and the average applicant has a 3.72 GPA (which is pretty high) so definitely prioritize achieving a high GPA your freshman year since a large portion of the application is based on that. I’m in pre-art now and planning to pursue a degree in Visual Community Design. How likely am I to get admitted into my major?

Freshmen who take DESIGN 166 in Winter 2022, Spring 2022, or Summer 2022, and receive a 3.7 or higher are automatically offered admission to Visual Community Design. Freshmen who take DESIGN 166 in Winter 2022 or Spring 2022, and receive below a 3.7 can apply to that major by submitting a Bachelor of Design application in June 2022. So basically, if you get a 3.7 in DESIGN 166 you’re good to go, otherwise you’re going to have to apply to the major with an application, and I’m not sure how competitive that is. Hope that helped!

I'm a senior in high school and want to apply! I'm in National Honor Society, have a 3.9 GPA, and will probably be going Test Optional for SATs. I want to be directly admitted to the nursing major. How likely am I to get in?

Physics is capacity-constrained, but it’s not extremely competitive. As long as you have a solid personal statement and achieve pretty good grades in your prerequisite courses, you’ll likely get in!

A lot of people applying to UW medicine major in some form of biology or chemistry. There’s also other health related majors like nursing or public health. It kinda depends on what you’re looking to do career wise. Hope that helped!

I’ve lived on north and west campus this year. You can’t request a specific room (unless you change rooms and then ask in your room change request and hope they give it to you). West campus feels a little more active while North campus is a bit more chill and we know have Denny field to play games and stuff with friends

I used to live in West Campus at Lander Hall! Now I live off-campus. Daniel’s right, you can’t request a specific room in your initial application for housing. A corner room would be really nice though! Regardless of what room you get, I’m sure you can spice it up and make it the perfect environment for you :)

I got their email back and unfortunately it turned out exchange students are not eligible to take a FIG. Do you have any suggestions on courses that are pretty good/special? I am a medical student from Taipei but would love to try any good course of yours😀
