The knowledge gained is the same at every university and not worth what you pay for it.

I didn't like the first part of the video because you are very jugdy. Those people have kids and jobs, they don't deserve that kind of reaction of disgust regarding their house. The things you haven't figured out yet, they are living it everyday. It's easier to project ideal visions than to actually implement it.

Hi Jessica, I remember commenting on a couple of your UW videos when I was starting at UW. Bottom line that nobody can take away is this stage is really, really, really, freaking hard. That is the friendly way of expressing it to people that don't have the same struggles, all we can do is hope there is empathy and those hateful comments sure don't have that empathy. Also, Physics and Astronomy, holy moly that is an insanely difficult major. I'm a sophomore now and I had a hard time with the general science classes like chemistry as I didn't do much of that or physics in high school. Chemistry was really hard and the start of this school year I had Physics 1 & 2 staring at me. I decided to take it at a community college in a smaller and more supportive environment and wow am I glad I did. The first physics wasn't awful, but challenging. Physics 2 was crazy abstract and weird. But the thing for me was I had my super low moments in my first year where I failed two classes, and after cruising through high school even with taking almost all IB classes it was mortifying and embarrassing and I felt like giving it all up. The truth is everyone is dealing with something that you just don't know about no matter how successful they are in school, and that can affect everything. However, there are still those little moments, those little wins and those wins can culminate, and I started getting more of those and now I'm in the Electrical and Computer Engineering program at UW! Even if they are small those little moments of accomplishment, they have so much significance, and when they form to something like a NASA internship or that scholarship, it's truly incredible. All that tedious hard work often feels like it's just hard work and it really gets to you, but finding those good moments even if they are small do so much. Hope you are well! Go Dawgs!

Yeah, admission at UW seems bonkers to me. I got my CS degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. At UMD, you could switch majors by simply declaring you want to, and my spouse has done this. He switched his major to CS twice! And in general, UW is so much less transparent about every aspect of everything than my alma mater (I took a few courses at UW, and so did my spouse, and I live up the street from the university). It is very boundary-ful, I completely agree with you.

Software engineer since 1982 here. If you want to work in the computer industry, four years of experience is worth more than a degree. Get a coding job right out of high school, earn good money, and live debt-free.
