Why you NEED to care about privacy

Ғылым және технология

Privacy is assaulted in broad daylight and everything we do is recorded with an unforgiving permanence. We trade away our private data for services and conveniences -- not realizing that the government has become party to every agreement we enter into. Due to the 3rd-Party Doctrine, we have no reasonable expectation of privacy in the digital age. The government uses this loophole to purchase data from brokers, completely evading the boundaries established by the 4th amendment.
This invasion into our lives has become completely normalized.
Even if we don't value privacy ourselves, by not standing up for privacy we actually hurt the most vulnerable in society.
In this video I talk about the very real horrors that have occurred throughout history when surveillance becomes a tool for oppression, stripping away the freedoms of the people, and changing the fabric of society. I explain why this is where we are heading. I also explain some simple steps you can take TODAY tell you what steps you can take TODAY to protect yourself.

@@therealb888 - It took me the better part of an entire year to clean up my credit. The threat actor got a physical (legit) copy of my CA DL and used it to buy an SUV as me (during COVID, wearing a mask). They used this vehicle until i discovered it by getting a parking ticket in the mail for it. Then I got more tickets, found out they bought more merch at a TJ MAXX, etc. The police were/are 100% useless. They took my information and that's it. I even told them they could get video footage of the perps from the TJ MAXX security cams and the CA Fast Pass speedways they abused - nothing was done. They tried to purchased thousands of dollars of gear from a Best Buy in Los Angeles, luckily I stopped it. I was told there were 4 detectives for all 330,000 of us where I live, so yeah, unless you are the governor or someone famous with deep pockets - police are useless for these sorts of crimes, because there's no profit motive for them vs drugs and anything they can seize and then resell for dept profits. I would have caught all of this faster, but the same month this happened, my sister was killed by her husband, so that was kind of where my attention was focused at that moment. I saw the credit notification come through on something iffy and I thought it was just a "soft pull" - no, it was an all out attack and yet I stayed focused on my sister's killer. I still have one ticket I can't get resolved in Los Angeles, because the city really just wants SOMEONE, ANYONE to pay it, so they won't just accept a police report, they want an FTC site download that doesn't exist anymore for me and I refuse to try and rebuild that entire site over one ticket. The FTC only stores the site for something like 120 days, it's pathetic and should be permanent. Needless to say, the last few years have been some of the worst in my life...

@@NaomiBrockwellTV - Thank You Naomi, in the end, it helped me to determine my IT career needs to go somewhere into Cybersecurity so that's where I am heading right now. I'm literally watching Linux vids while typing this and I got my Google Cybersecurity cert last week. I'm late 40's and got super burnt out of dealing with people directly (IT support) and wanted to move further into the background so this also makes sense. Also, given how things are turning out (authoritarianism, policing, etc) I think cybersecurity skills aren't just $$$, they are quickly becoming necessary to live even remotely "free" (Assange, etc). Recently, the guy who killed my sister got a whole 12 yrs in prison - someone recently got 75 yrs for hacking Twitter. That's not justice. That's a corporatocracy. Anyways, thanks again and I appreciate all the content you and other privacy/cyber content creators produce.

I've never understood, why so many are so complacent about privacy, security, freedom of speech, and the like. It seems the cause is more than just constant distraction and overwhelm. Maybe the intentions of others are simply missed by many, as they didn't grow up in a time of unrest - they don't have a reference. Great video, as always. Cheers - Christopher

I just watched a video on lawyer Steve Lehto's channel about in Oregon a law needing permission from the party to record you. The comments were mind blowing. "Why would you want a law where it let's you lie later on & you can deny you ever said something?" Totally missing the point about it being about privacy.

I've got a good Faraday bag for my so-called smart phone. It came with little removable stickers to go over the cameras, which I use. But I want my elderly mom, who has various ailments, to be able to contact me any time. So I have to choose between the basic right everybody should enjoy not to be automatically tracked and being available to my mother in case of an emergency. Our credit union now sells the data from our debit card purchases to marketers and won't let us opt out of it. This is all extremely f'd up. But we are continually given the message that it is actually desirable.

There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to. - George Orwell 1984

I was talking to a bunch of people with phD's in the arts and philosophy about privacy and how important it is to fight for it. I had to really keep it low key because you can tell their already ready to shut down anything that sounds conspiracy like. So I had to lead with "Conspiracies are a social tool for covering a shadow with a larger shadow" and then from there go to open up to the idea that its dangerous to have tracking on you. They were very scheptical. One of the questions I got was "Can you give an example of how constant tracking might endanger the average person", and my response was along the lines of you cant ever erase your profile what if one day the regime changes and you want to speak out. Well you cant. Or a foreign agent infultraiting a data center might use the information to threaten an activist. I used the term "Assuming total trust" a few times to highlight how absurd it would be to actually do that. Its was difficult to keep that conversation from being derailed by the conspiracy narrative. Im pretty sure that was their first exposure to the topic. I have really smart friends who know all about it and who refuse to take action because they dont consider their presence to be significant enough, so Ill try the herd immunity argument on them next.

Do you remember the lawsuit brought by the gov't. against Zimmerman under the "Neutrality Act" (my recollection but may have been another similar law)? It was long ago but the gov't. dropped the case as the litigants were walking through the courtroom door. There was a reason for that. This is not a guess on my part. Gov't.'s surveillance ability is decades ahead of our ability to imagine it. It may be that measures described here to mitigate privacy-related anxiety are not just delusions but also "honey pots".

Working out in a fasted state has increased performance for me. By fasted I mean 3 to 5 days without food. I think what happens, is the body is breaking down proteins to reorganize into muscle. The absence of food processing allows for faster recovery. The rebuilding of muscle keeps your muscles growing, rather than breaking down. I take a half a daily vitamin twice a day and lots of salt and water. I have been able to put on, my guess is roughly 25 to 30 lbs of muscle, going from about 185 lb to 227 lb, over a period of several years. Also working out is irregular. Each cycle of fasted workouts appears to change the set point for my body. So the muscle seems to increase and remain to an extent, even with minor/limited workouts after the gains. Putting on 15 to 20 lbs of fat, afterwards increases my mass even more so, but during strength training, it's easy to see the increase in power is there. I'm stronger than I ever have been and currently going into a fast cycle. Started at 227lb 2 weeks ago, 216lb as of yesterday. Only 1 meal a day currently, eating more fats and less fake food. Barely started minor workouts, will ramp up workouts and fasting going into the weekend. Eventually a body must have external sources to fuel it. Sticking to walnuts, almonds, avocado, steak before the fast and again after the fast helps to move into fats stores for energy and less of a shock to the system. I have drank beer and bloody Mary's after a 7 day fast, but I highly recommend against that. Fasting is a secret tool for sure. Don't knock it until you try it. I guess I will have to become a youtuber for people to see my results and truly understand.

The funniest thing is that the elites could (obviously "would") know about videos such as these, but they just sit back and laugh as they know they have an unbreakable stranglehold on society. There ain't gonna be no French Revolution this time. Of course, it doesn't mean warriors like yourself shouldn't stop fighting.. I do believe in karma and life beyond this incarnation.. so you gotta fight.. but it is really hard to keep one's spirit strong when you know that as things stand, it is like trying to topple a brick wall with a feather. 😞 Our best hope is a CME sending us back to the Stone Age! this is not a dumb idea at all. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eo2CvK2Kiqiun7g.html In this video I recommend porting your existing number to google voice as a "receiving only" number, and then transitioning people who contact you over to voip numbers instead, and more importantly to e2ee apps like Signal. Any time you use regular calls and sms you're not private. But you might not want google to also have a vantage into your call info. So I recommend using it as seldom as possible, and choosing other options when you can.

If you can take no action without your action being totally predicted, then your actions are of no consequence. Thats the same thing as being in chains. The very root of freedom is having pickable options. If your every move can be manipulated, because your every move and thought it totally known, you dont have options anymore. Your just unaware that all the doors in the maze are fake. Some would argue your not enslaved because you dont know your enslaved. But just because you cant comprehend the chains doesnt mean you cant feel them. Peoples increasing depression, anxiety, and "protest to existance by extinction" are reflection of a deep seated feeling that something is very wrong. So you do care about privacy, but much like how a bird does not understand why its wings wont work when they are clipped, you just know something is wrong without being able to target the actual thing. Then things come along designed to point your energy in the wrong direction for other means. Extremism, Veganism, Pyramid schemes. Basically anything that makes you take a bunch of extreme actions based on emotion that you only figure out were the wrong ones 10 years later, but refuse to admit it to yourself or anyone else because of the sunk cost fallacy. This is one of the places where fighting truly matters. Also sadly 1984 is a reality in the east already. Freaking cisco saw it happening and advertised they could help track down dissidents. So your absolutely insane if you think you can trust companies. The really sad part is these people who collect this data think they are protected, but they are not. The culture they create turns around and envelops them as well. Then they live their lives under the same oppression, and no one has the power to throw it off.

    1) i often felt like people were conditioned to forgo privacy & anonymity when catfishing first became a thing from the documentary movie and later tv series. subconsciously believing anonymity is solely a bad thing. now that we're at a breaking point those same people now want to hold on to their privacy realizing not everyone NEEDS to know who you are and/or where you're going but it might be a little too late. also, the timing of the documentary & series was around the launch of the first iphone that i find very interesting. #conspiracytheory 2) since many young people are living in a video culture, CBDC might be strongly embraced years from now by the youths of today. since all modern games function with digital currency of some-kind i think the transition will be terrifyingly easy!! 3) overall, i hate to say this, i fear that the future looks very bleak and im legitimately scared.

@Naomi The problem I have with the tools is that there are too many of them out there. Also, who knows if they are legit/honest actors! A Mysudo subscription looks interesting since it provides multiple services. Could it essentially replace the need for proton mail and simple login, and signal, and brave?? Also, do you use VPN on your phone? What’s a good solution there?

I think you should use a vpn with everything -- mullvad and proton are highly regarded Also probably best not to bundle all your activity with a single company

Their main reason for not caring about privacy is ".....hey ...I did no wrong....I got nothing to hide..." Sure...you got nothing to hide but once in a while....you still wanna close your house curtains coz it's already night time and you don't want people looking inside your house right?

That too and because people also don't realize that in this world there are people that suck big time that can and would/will use the information against us in bad way, they just fail to understand that it's hard to trust a flawed being as human to not abuse things for their own good. It's nice to dream about perfect security with surveillance everywhere but with greedy and controlling people at the top (government, corps etc.) and malicious hackers this is just not possible.

I wish there would be more people like you in this world Naomi. Since i've discovered your channel and started digging the internet Privacy 🔏 rabbit hole and implications... The more i realize how complicated it is if you really want privacy. Even on material and OS level 🤦🏻‍♂️. But that's what it is ! Let's fight 👊, thanks for all what you do. And beautiful speech♥️🕊️👍

Setting basic security as Naomi mentioned at the end of her speech and products advice. But if you're really digging, the more you dig and the more complex it becomes...😭. Nothing to hide but i definitely do not want my family and kids pictures meta datas and my invoices or any other documents i would be storing in a cloud to be crawled then analysed by Ai's whatever the purpose. my first decision is to quit iOS and mostly my Android mobile devices for a Ubuntu or another linux distro as well as a safe from zero day or others hardware breaches for my laptop. And probably, expensive graphene devices for family mobiles. If someone here has already figured out the best for budget setup would be much appreciated to be shared here in the comments ❤️🙏. Regarding the software, DNS, Apps, and so on i will handle it thanks to the amazing amount of resources shared on this channel and latest update and chit chat caught on Reddit hopefully legit. But most of the time posts advertising a software are easy to spot 👌🖐️🖐️💯 Does anyone have recommendations for a quality hardware non spy microchipped implemented or hardware vulnerability? laptop if possible with HD or 4k support ? And a safe alternative for mobile as i'm currently a Xiaomi happy user but I'm totally committed to abandon google for fully open source alternative and OS. Any cheaper alternative other than Graphene?🙏💯❤️🙏 Final question sorry for the long post... But is there any legal document such as proof of deleted files account with any retention that could be obtained from companies such as google, dropbox, OneDrive....? I'm aware NSA most likely will own and keep a backup from my clouded and internet files such as this comment. But at least i think the GAFAM should be legally obligated to provide a proof of zero retention from our accounts ? Any thoughts or stories/attempts to obtain such a document and what was your host and procedures you followed ? Europe consumers data privacy compliance and strict laws for clouds or other types of data's provider... Anyone tried ? I'm hesitant about renting a VPS using a similar open source alternative to Google Suite, specially for Sync (using zero knowledge and encrypted on local before uploading on Vps but it's a pain in the ass... Or trying Decentralized storage solutions but there is no cross platform synch for mobiles or laptops as far as i know any idea 💡? Maybe StoraJ or filecoin ??💡🙏❤️
