I like to call myself a pathological optimist. Our thoughts are transferred into our biology, which means generosity, service, and altruism make us healthier from the inside out, all while giving us more joy in life. Unfortunately, many of us go through life with a list of shoulds without truly knowing the why behind our actions. It can be a daunting task to seek meaning and purpose, but taking intentional steps towards this kind of clarity might be easier than you think.
Today on The Doctor’s Farmacy, I’m excited to talk to Simon Sinek about how to find your why to live a more authentic, fulfilled, and healthy life. A trained ethnographer, Simon may be best known for his TED Talk on the concept of why, which has been viewed over 60 million times, and his video on millennials in the workplace-which reached 80 million views in its first week and has gone on to be seen hundreds of millions of times. He continues to share inspiration through his bestselling books, including global bestseller Start with WHY and New York Times bestsellers Leaders Eat Last and The Infinite Game, as well as his podcast, A Bit of Optimism

I am an ES teacher. I have a degree in Business. It did not feed my soul. My purpose is working with young students. I can bring kindness, knowledge and understanding to these little scholars. It brings joy to me and joy in the faces of those I teach. I see that every single day. We have community within our school and with our school families. Best life choice ever. I became a teacher in my 30’s. Had to figure it all out first, but I am happy every day.

No, lazy is a term used to describe people who refuse to do the things that are necessary to keep a society running. Lazy is a term used to describe people who hurt others because they use them up and have nothing to offer back in return. Lazy is a term used to describe people who are selfish and unwilling to do anything, forcing others to do it for them. Laziness is harmful to others because while they are busy cleaning up the mess of someone else, they aren't able to properly care for themselves or their families. Yes, we can talk about depression all day, but at the same time, what do most of us have to be depressed about? Depression seems like a convenient excuse, doesn't it? Unless something bad has actually happened, you dont have a right to be depressed. Depression is the disease of an over pampered, privileged, narcissistic, selfish society.

@Carol Allison depression is a mental illness. Most of the time, it is due to childhood trauma, so you need to be careful who you decide is depressed and who isn't.

💯 Our subconscious mind always believes what we tell it, so if we infuse our intentions & our days with positive, encouraging emotions, chances are that we'll begin to experience them in our lives and our body & mind and our community will profoundly benefit from this.

For those who get the misinterpret the meaning of why from this talk as something divine or really hard to attain and morally superior, etc. "Why" can be anything, you just have start understanding the true value of things and different work people do. For example take the case of a road construction worker, their job is so damn important for millions of people to have a better convenient lifestyle(travel and all included). I've been in so many jobs and lots of different sectors and I've always found a why in that particular job. My why(s) have been changing with every job. I also have a larger why which encapsulates all these smaller why(s) like a class. And that why is just living a happier, fulfilling life which I found out includes building or being in a better world, helping others have a better life and also doing better work at office so that the product or service I create contributes to the quality of life and development (technological or social) . Also, I want to conclude with two main point which a normal person need to follow to get the why automatically. 1.understand the value of things, everything has some value, look closely and long enough to find it. 2. Everything is connected. A good plumbing job really alter you mindset and personality, if fueled by the right situation. The change can be positive or negative. A bad road can make you grumpy even if you are rich and have great friends and family around you.
