I'm in LOVE with #3! Beautifully expressed! I used to be in sales. My bosses hated that I wasn't the aggressive, pushy salesperson. What I did instead was assisted them, waited on them, provided customer service, recommendations after hearing what they want, answering their questions, I waited for them to practically beg me to try to sell them something, and I out-sold all the pushy, aggressive salespeople. We weren't selling to idiots, we were selling to people who mostly knew what they wanted. They didn't want a pushy salesperson telling them they wanted to buy whatever we were getting the most commission that week. They wanted someone to hear what they wanted and point in them in the direction to what sits their needs.

Totally agree! Pushy sales is like the car salemen (they always get the bad rep). One time deal. Educated sales gets repeated sales, if not then good referrals. It takes time to build credibility, but that's in everything that is life. Kudos to you!

you know, I love watching your videos. I have only just started watching them, because I am in search for changing my life for a better future, a future where I am free. I used to be so commited to what i believed, and along the way I lost that, my life became really boring. bored at work, bored at home in my free time, I had never had this feeling, and I hated it. Took me too long to realise where my life was going, but I have learned. I really like to "know your destination" and to "set unrealistic goals." I would set unrealistic goals, so it pushed me towards my destination.

My destination is a life long change to be completely free and no longer bound by employment. I actually don’t have a finishing destination. Because once by biggest goal is complete. I will make another one. But at the moment it is to become wealthy and financially independent with a passive income one day at a time. The end goal. Is so I can then start doing the things I want to do. Which is make films. But I won’t start there. Starting with affiliate Marketting. I have a set goal to make my first dollar in 6 weeks, even if I am in minus figures when I make that dollar. I have 5 weeks left. I am still learning everything I can. And my first fb ad campaign Of £20 I lost. So I am researching copywriting then doing it again. Trying to build a list. So then I get repeat custom.

Thanks for sharing this Evan! Simon's definitely my fav. His "start with why" changed the way I communicate years ago and I've followed him ever since. You're definitely #3!! Would love to see a Top 10 Rules For Success featuring Gretzky... when talking about strategy with others, I frequently mention how Gretzky didn't skate after the puck... he skated towards where the puck would be. For example, it's why Apple's FCPX is faster at rendering today than Adobe's Premiere... Apple saw the hardware-accelerated Quick-Sync tech coming down the pipeline at Intel, dropped their aging codebase and headed in that direction... while Adobe skated towards picking up disenfranchised FC7 users who couldn't see past FCPX's growing pains :)

I must confess that I have a one sided bromance with Simon Sinek. His books are terrific and on point. While watching this particular compilation of his talks, I am motivated to comment on several of his points. How about if I combine two of them? An error that many companies make when they have achieved momentum is to sabotage their own success. Once "Big Mo" has started, too many companies spend their entire focus on selling as much product as they can. Certainly understandable because that is what you are in business to do. Momentum is a two-way street. It can go both downhill and uphill. How do you keep the train accelerating? Leadership development. Remember, everyone's favorite radio station is WII-FM. What's In IT For Me. When the organization is on a roll, that is the perfect time to CRAM as much information into the heads of your leaders as possible. Leadership determines the altitude and the attitude of the workforce. When you have just successfully accomplished an objective, there is never a time when you are more anxious to add to your success. Progress is the elixir! This is true for the individual and the team. When you feel as though you are learning and gaining valuable experience, you are all in. You wake up motivated and excited about what the day will bring. It's a win-win for everybody. After all, if your organization is to grow, you must have capable leaders. When things are going well you want to extend the teaching/leadership aspect to as much of your organization as possible. EVERYONE WANTS TO SEE PROGRESS IN THEIR FUTURE. Here's how to do it: In business and coaching, you as the leader, are constantly teaching and training. What’s the difference? You go to school and receive a high school education. In the business world you receive both an education and training. Ask your high school sophomore if he wants sex education or sex training. See the difference? There is a simple way to train people to perform. It’s called the PESOS system. Mexican money. Here’s how it works. It is, of course, an acronym. P-repare E-xplain S-how O-bserve S-upervise The first thing that you do is to PREPARE your pupil for the task. What is it EXACTLY that you want me to do? What is the why and because that makes the task important? Where does it fit in to the “big picture”? Etc. The second step is to EXPLAIN how the task is to be performed. Step three is to SHOW your student how to perform the task by performing it yourself. Number 4: You OBSERVE the mentee performing the task. You do this for as long as it takes for the student to get the job done right. You critique, analyze, and continuously correct until you are happy with the quality of performance. Finally, you SUPERVISE. What does that mean? It means that you track the results. If the results are not satisfactory then you return to the OBSERVE step and make the appropriate correction. If you are receiving good results than you move on to the next task and collect your PESOS. In this way, the student will also become the teacher/trainer. You are building your organization and developing your leaders. An organization will only advance to the level of its leadership. This is a key point. This is a key point! I said that twice on purpose. Your organization will advance concurrently as the leaders in your organization develop. That gives you two areas to focus upon. First, you NEVER stop developing leaders. If your product explodes in the marketplace you cannot expand unless you have the leadership to supervise expansion. Developing leaders is essential. Second, you must constantly develop yourself and realize that personal growth is a never-ending operation. As the world becomes more complex and information and knowledge double every 3 years or so, it is more essential than ever for you to CONTINUE to grow as a leader and a person. Just as the train needs to be continually fueled to pick up and maintain its speed, BIG MO must continually be fed INSPIRATION.
