Same here. Went to a bike shop and told him i am a complete newby and what bike he would suggest. He showed me a Norco sight for $4800.
I rented the '18 Enduro at Snowshoe this summer; and it was an incredible rig! Literally just hopped on and was comfortable jumping and railing berms straight outta the gate. It would be my choice, but I am extremely limited with experience on full-squishes. On another note, mountain bike prices have quickly gotten to the point where you can identify the haves and the have nots in the industry. It's truly unfortunate to say the least.

Nothing wrong with a $500-$750 bike. The MTB industry is nuts. Most people think you have to have a $5k+ bike to be able to ride. It's like saying that buying a $300 pair of Nike's are going to make you play basketball better than the guy wearing Chucks. It comes down to skill and not your checkbook.
@jmard24
4 жыл бұрын
@@XploreAz the industry is not nuts. manufacturers know that the bikes they make (especially boutique brands) are for a small group of avid cyclists. It costs alot of money to engineer, test and build these bikes. For the majority of people, bikes on the lower end of the scale will do just fine. it's the same on the road side. A beginner will recieve little to no benefit from a 10k bike vs a 700 dollar bike because they lack the skills to really take advantage of the technology. a skilled rider while still faster than most of would suffer on a lower end bike because they lack the precision and characteristics of the high end bikes.
@XploreAz

@@jmard24 The point I'm trying to make is that nobody needs a $10,000 bike. The industry makes it seem like you have to spend several thousands of dollars on a bike in order to get out and compete or even have fun. That's not the case. It comes down to skill more than anything.
For whatever reason, bigger brand name bikes don't usually call out to me, but that Specialized did look freakin sweet. I'd prob go for that or the Santa Cruz. Also, superb usage of Austin Powers music. Really turns the whole vid up a notch. 👍
It’s going to be 2020 Specialized. When I was looking at new bikes last year my top two choices were the Specialized Stumpjumper and the a couple of different Rocky Mountain model. Loving my Stumpjumper But would not have been disappointed riding a Rocky. The new Enduro’s are pretty sweet. The Ibis Ripmo is a another fav. Where I live I do more aggressive trail riding. 29er 2.6 work great in the PNW!

This year I was in the market for a new bike... was looking for an enduro bike and tried out many bikes including the Santa Cruz Megatower, Devinci Spartan, Evil Wrekoning etc. I Ended up going with 2019 Devinci Troy Carbon 29er :) This bike rules :) Felt very similar to the Spartan but just a little more playful/poppy. I didn't get a chance to ride the new Evil Offering or the 2020 Specialized Enduro but those bikes look sick as well. Really like the Specialized. The frame looks so massive. I think you like it pritty much, too. Hopefully you are getting the Enduro.
Hopefully the Megatower! I loved it. Even climbed technical really well, especially for it's weight.

I hope you go for the Santa Cruz Nomad. Such a sick bike, I really like mine, and like he said, the customer service is top notch. Bearings for life!
I'd love to see you go with the Megatower but I think your going to get the new Enduro
My guess is the Slayer, locally made, great design.
I think you should buy the Santa Cruz Megatower (so I can see the long term reviews) but believe you will buy the Specialized. Your video spent more time on it than any of the others. No matter which one you buy I will enjoy the videos that follow. Thanks and keep up the good work. I will miss the YT discussions, even though you kept your 2018 DH (for now ;-)).
Omg, I have to get my bike tuned. This makes me want to FIND and ride some trails.
Seeing as how the Megatower was on the stand, I'm assuming they just built your bike 🤘

Get the Specialized Enduro 2020! I am ordering that same one in a month or so, demoed that model but in gray. Killer! Can't go wrong with it.
I feel you'll go for the Megatower. Can't bear Santa Cruz
Gonna pick the Devinci Spartan. Its ticks all the boxes for geometry and spec. It looks great and its canadian!!!
Also also, anyone know why he sold his Capra? I'm def considering getting one at some point. Was it coming up short somehow?
Santa Cruz Megatower is my guess. I’m riding a SC 5010cc, and couldn’t be happier. The quality of the bike is addicting.
That Rocky Mountain was beautiful, I wanted that bike!
My wife hates when I go shopping for anything related to bikes lol
Nomad straight up only choice. I just bought a brand new 5010 cc and now I want the Nomad.
Love the slayer design, more than the SC ones that all look the same. But SC have a really good after sales program so you will always have a solution for frame issues. You have a tough decision to make.
That rocky mountain slayer looks amazing
I like the looks of Specialized. Actually the old looked better than the new one. I guess You will go for the Santa Cruz.
I had the first enduro specialized incredible on the trails and all around with the geometry of the bike handles awesome on the downhill
Yooooo what you need is that Wilson behind you on display!!!! 🤘🏼

Does anybody know what model and what year is the blue specialized in the presentation image of the video
I'm gonna guess the Enduro just because it has storage and of course that killer paint job in the begging
I'm guessing the Specialized... Mainly because I haven't heard one bad review to date, although the way Santa Cruz stands behind their product is the way every manufacturer should be! Lifetime replacement on frames, pivot bearings and carbon rims I believe....

the specialized enduro of 2010 has that x frame. i remember looking at that bike in the catalogue when i bought my 2010 specialized stumpjumper.
They're all nice for sure. Specialized would be my pick. 29er with all that squish.
Specialized Enduro, a beast on the down hill! That's the one.
Imma guess you liked the specialized, though I have to say the devinci is definitely my favorite
In my opinion, Devinci has the best R and D, and the only manufacturer to design AND fabricate aluminum bike frames and components in North America. In fact Devinci’s R&D offices are right next to their fabrication plant. That’s pretty awesome. They don’t have the trendy popularity or distribution of other brands but they are a great brand.....And of course the late Stevie Smith raced for them so I’ll always be fan.
The staff here seem really cool I would love to shop here. At my local shops the staff just stare at you like you have taken a dump in their kettle.
Specialized would still be my top choice just for the utilities.
I'm 100% always on board specialized
I swear one of those Specialized Dropper Seat posts Bruised my Taint, did more damage to me on the trail then the trail could do to me lol
I have missed a lot of rides over the past month waiting on pivot bearings for my Santa Cruz Bronson...
I always find Specialized a bit vanilla, yeah they taste fantastic, but you don't get excited about them.
