Superman vs the elite is a great movie that shows who Superman is, what he stands for, and why good people like him are relevant in this world, regardless of how much the world changes.

That scene where he's acting like the Elite is so powerful, because it remind people just how much they take his kind nature for granted. That if people like the Elite ever went too far and started going after innocents, the Superman would be there to stop them. But when Superman does whatever he wants, there's no one to really stop him. We don't see any other heroes (since this is focused on Superman) but given what he did while playing serious, most of them wouldn't be able to stop him before he took them out. The world's only hope would be to keep their heads down and pray he doesn't decide they're guilty of something.

This is truly one of Superman's greatest animated movies! It also shows how important he's always been as a superhero and how he can inspire us to be good people ourselves in real life.

The reason for a lack of character depth of the Elite is because they are [not much of] a parody of The Authority, who were very popular at the time of the comic's publication. It is assumed that folks will know enough about them without going in depth, the same as the many parodies of the Justice League.

Honestly, the fact that The Authority are all but forgotten a few decades later while Superman is still a household name 80+ years on sort of proves this story's thesis.

You can't talk about this story without talking about The Authority, which was the direct inspiration for the Elite. Their leader, Jenny Sparks is the same British Union Jack type. They have a dimensional shifting ship and they were they ones spearheading the idea of superheroes acting to overthrow governments, to the point where "Willy", a US sponsored supervillain with thousands of powers, takes them out. "Welcome to the Oval office president Gore", indeed.

What compliments the source material more was the fact that it was merely a reaction towards the anti-heroes trend in the '90s (Punisher, Authority, etc), but it still applies to what came after (invincible[3 years], TheBoys[6 years], Irredeemable[9 years], etc. These numbers mean their establish gap, which superman predated) Little did supe realize that it was just the beginning, and also the animated movie came out a year prior to MoS

Ironically the TV Show of the Boys have a better understanding of Sups as a Character than its comics hence why they can pull of a Dark Parody of Superman.

*To me this movie is my favourite Superman movie* I adore everything about this movie and to me it perfectly encapsulates everything that makes Superman important in today's world and why now more than ever as countries fo to war, people die and nihilism and cynicism affect countless today, Superman acts to remind us that their is hope and that he truly believes in everyone even if his enemies and the Elite and Manchester Black are a great representation of the 21st century a cynism and misguided justice, they are an antithisis of Superman's morals and everything he doesn't want to be be. Superman feels the weight of every person he cant save and it mentally affects him like an anchor holding the weight of the world on his back yet when hes tempted by those dark thoughts he chooses to be good despite his immense powers, because Superman just wants to help and truly believes in us all even when we don't believe in ourselves. It adapts the story "What's so funny about truth, Justice and the American Way" perfectly I couldn't recommend this film enough to the people who say Superman is boring, because to me this film really disproves that notion quite well. It just frustratingly confuses me how such an amazing DC animated film is overlooked?

Never understood why people blame characters like Superman and Batman for not killing their villains and hand them to the law instead. Why not blame the law for not issuing the death penalty? It’s not the hero’s right to dictate who lives and dies. Their job is simply keeping people safe.

100% especially since he will be debuting in a pre established universe which could be similar in tone to the boys and have superman bring hope and justice and be the idealistic light in a world that had non The elite can be rather untouched just funded by Waller in this version and are sent in to attempt to give superman a reality check also Manchester black should be played by David tenet

I think another thing that doesnt get asked is that if Superman DID kill Lex is who would actually prosecute him? Same goes for Batman. "Superman why did you kill Lex Luthor?" "He was attempting to destroy the Justice League." End of statment, no questions asked. Even still there are people in DC who can FORCE you to tell the truth.

Fun fact, Superman was never an icon for "the American way" in the original runs. He was actually a socialist written created be two Jewish people as a Moses allegory, who stood for the weak and lower class. "The American way" was a tagline used for the 1940s radio serials Superman appeared in to boost morale for WW2.

@@oldmanbiscuit7518uh batman would never beat saitama even with prep time, saitama’s power is practically infinite. When he fought Garou, he was growing in power so fast that Garou (who was literally copying Saitama’s power) couldn’t keep up. And these guys were punting each other across the solar system like they were playing a game of ping pong. Saitama would only need a single punch to kill Batman, which he would only do if batman lunged at him/tried to attack him. If Batman chose the long, research how to beat him way, he would be doing that until one of them dies of old age.

@@oldmanbiscuit7518I’d like to hear the logic behind how Batman could beat Saitama, because I don’t see a single possibility. Saitama is so strong he just straight up GRABBED a portal. He even kicked one away. Which is basically space. He grabbed warped space. That said, I believe Saitama could even survive the universe being erased. If bro can grab it and kick it away like a soccer ball then I’m sure he’d survive.
